did you measured too strong headwind over the Indian Ocean ?  According to my FMC I may need to divert...

Just landed at Petropavlovsk. We could easily say it is the Mig alley ! On Google Earth you can see the airport is packed by several squadrons of Mig 25/31 interceptors. Watch out where you pack out the Volcano stuff Wink

It seems we are only 3 who still flying the scientific stuff along the tour. Good luck Trevor and Andrei !

Sorry Roberto but in general if you crash your plane, that's the end of your journey  Sad

What exactly were the circumstances? I'm sure I saw your ACARS data and I think it looked like a wheels-up landing...?

Once I also forgot to release the gears over Amsterdam. I crashed a nice new CRJ because of that. Even with 300 landings behind me I forgot that. It can happen... I also crashed a 747F during the F-1 tour: it stalled at 50 (!) feet during landing and fallen off.

Better luck next time mate !

Yesterday landed at Portland !

I had to make a go-around because the silly FMC misscalculated the altitude and I was still at 2000' over the threshold. Also, there are a tons of small airfields around the town, so it was a nightmare to catch the appropriate tower frequency. I spotted an empty zone and parked there with the beast... checked that on Google Earth, and realized it is a military area of the airfield, actually I was sitting among a pack of F-15s, so do not look after me for some days Smiley

After landing I went out to check the racetrack near the airport while they pack out the staff Wink I really hated driving at Portland in IndyCar Racing, because it has repeating and changing radius curves, it is very challenging and I never find a good setup for my car. But it is so much fun watching a real race on TV, as the guys are struggling in the corners, and struggling with spin-offs because there are huge grass fields around the track without a wall. At some places it is just like rallying among the cows !

... err, and the airport lays at a lovely place too on the river bank Smiley

As you may have noticed, I am out of the tour now  :'(  and this, for a really stupid real-life mistake.

First, I found myself in the situation of having only one chance to do one of the long flights (PHTO - KPDX), which is in itself a mistake.

Then, with the flight almost complete, just before starting descent I had to pause. And while paused, my son had to use the computer and thought it was safe to "Switch Session" in Windows XP. As most of you hopefully know, it is not...

Lost the flight and had no time to do it again. And of course, expecting better luck for the next event Smiley

Aye Andrei - found myself in a similar spot weeks back where I thought I had an additional week that I didn't.

Bad luck Andrei ! I had a similar situation at the beginning of this Event, when I wanted to play a movie on the TV as 2nd monitor... but FS did not really wanted to share the screen and locked up.

It seems we are only 2 still flying... or only me Huh Shocked

EDT: Andrei, you still have 2 days to fly to Portland ! Try it please, so we can fill up the podium places Wink

    Hi Folks
Andrei, it seemed you had holiday or work commitments which would have snookered your flying plans; so
i am glad to see it was only an oversight of dates, well done to Robert for reminding you.
I’ve been grounded till today due to a weeks visit to my son’s house in The Netherlands; so hoping to fly
    the KPDX-MMPB leg tomorrow.
The best of luck to you both. Wink
