«

As a further celebration of our 10th Anniversary, we are releasing a brand new Tour today! The route starts and ends near our US Hub at Atlanta (it's actually from KFTY - Fulton County Airport - which is the nearest General Aviation Airport to KATL). The Tour then takes you south via Florida to the beautiful Caribbean and on a circuit around such exotic places as:-
The Bahamas...
Saba...
St Bart's (Ste Barthelemy)...
St Vincent and the Grenadines...
Virgin Gorda...
Flamingo...
and Key West, among many others
The full route is on the following map:-
You can see more details on the
Tour page
- have fun!

Yes, you can use an alternative plane under our usual rules - it has to be substantially the same aircraft or very close - so the CLS version of the Piper Archer will do nicely

Would it be ok to use my Diamond DA-42 TwinStar (IRIS payware) for this tour?
If so-how is this indicated when filing a PIREP? This sort of thing being one of the few reasons I have FSX still on my PC because I have lovely scenery for the tour

I guess you could use that as an alternative to the Piper Seneca since we don't have an FSX version of that plane
To report the flight, you need to select the Seneca as your chosen plane but then add the identity of the plane you are actually using to the Pirep comments together with the reason for using it instead of the 'official' plane ie "no FSX version available".
Enjoy

Are some of the airfields seriously mud? My DA-42 is fine for grass but not many GA planes can handle mud. And by coral I take it as "crushed coral" concrete as opposed to loose corals?
Just want to make sure I can fly it with the right plane

Mud=dirt strips so flattened earth really, if it was really wet, it wouldn't be safe to land but if it's dry it's ok. And coral is indeed crushed coral, don't know if anyone has ever tried making a runway out of plain coral since it would shred the tyres of any plane that landed

Thanks for organising a great tour Dominic,
it’s got me in the mood to head for Florida again.
I am led to believe that summer falls on a Saturday this year in Prestwick; but what Saturday?

Glad you enjoyed the Tour Trevor
As to summer in Prestwick, I thought it had been cancelled until further notice following all the Government cuts

After 5 wonderful weeks between Spain (Madrid and Bilbao) and one in Paris, I am ready to start this event. Question: Can I use the Cesnna 310 instead of the Piper? it is also a piston twin engine and they are very alike.
Thanks in advance.

Or maybe I could fly instead the AeroCommander 500 which I flew in real life when I was a pilot and happy but I didn't know it.

I think the Cesnna 310 and additionally the Beechcraft Duchess (albeit a little on the weak side) are close enough to be used under the substitute rules. Although probably not the Commander.
Want a firm answer?
Wait for Dominic, but you're probably safe to fly and file with the plane substitute in the comments.

Hi Hector,
As long as the plane you choose is of generally similar design and specification then you're fine
So another twin piston GA plane will do just as well.
Have fun
