Difficulty
Medium. Long paved runways (except for TNCM), but do not underestimate the challenge of flying heavies! Most legs are purposely shorter than your average B744 flight, but there are a couple of long hauls as well to give a taste of the real thing.Description
In 1989, the first Boeing 747-400 did its maiden flight from back home at Boeing Field to Phoenix, Arizona. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of this amazing aircraft, which Euroharmony has been using for a long time, this event will lead through some historic destinations of the Queen. We will of course start with the flight to Phoenix, as well of the hubs of the first international airlines who used the B744: KLM and Singapore Airways. We will also fly a leg from Anchorage, Alaska to Tokyo Narita, a flight to which two bizarre historic incidents are related: the first ever flight to feel the effects of volcanic ash, but also a crew who successfully flew and landed an aircraft with severe rudder damage (thanks also to the B744 unique designs, having separate rudder halves, only one of which was damaged). The image of a B744 landing at St Maarten is also an aviation classic, so this will be part of the event as well. In between, we will also visit more airports which have seen a lot of B744 traffic in the last 25 years.Legs
