TeamSpeak help please
EHM-1199 Philip:
Right, following my slightly disasterous attempt to join this months fly in I am trying to get things sorted. I purchased a spanking new headset with noise reducing microphone. I downloaded and installed Teamspeak2 Client and have opened it to take a look. I'm slightly bewildered though.
When I connect to IVaP and then open teamspeak, do I need to do anything else or does it all connect automatically?
If I need to do something else ... what?
Also, do I need to press a button to speak or can I just start nattering away? All help as ever gratefully appreciated.
EHM-0744 Alex:
Ummm, firstly, when you connect to IVAP it loads up automatically, so you do not need to open it. (I am not aware if this needs to be configured, as it always works like this for me). As for how to talk, there are two options, one is by designating a key to press when you talk and another is to set it in a way so that it only emits sound when it gets above a certain noise level. Choosing which one you use is up to you, both can be configured from the "settings" menu button on TS.
Hope this helps;)
EHM-1365 Benjamin:
I'm pretty sure that for IVAO you HAVE to use push-to-talk. If someone can confirm this.....
EHM-1281 Cyriel:
I'm not sure if it is an official rule but please use Push to talk! When I'm controlling as ATC I'm not waiting to hear any screaming children on the background;D Believe me it happens.
When you start IVAP it should start teamspeka on it's own if you check the voice box in Ivap. When you switch ATC channel it should also switch you to the right teamspeak channel. It may need some configuring. Go to settings, sound input/output settings. Here you can configure wich key to use for push to talk. It also has an important feature activate "local test mode". Like this you can hear yourself and check on volmes etc..
Hope this helps. I just visited a bar to watch the local soccer team (PSV) play and can not see things very clear anymore. If needed I wil explain more later. End of March we will have another fly-inn. Please try and join then and we will help you trough it. If you want I can lso help you on a normal weekday from EGLL. JUst let me know when and I will try to be online.
EHM-1199 Philip:
Thanks for your great help here Cyriel. I'll have aplay and see if I can get things working in the next few days. Real life has a tendency to get in the way of flying so although I try to get some sort of pattern I'm often only flying after 9pm when kids are in bed etc.
If I know I'll be online at a specific time I may well contact you though and see if it is convenient to conincide our online times.
