Awards and pirep corrections response time

I am not sure that I have chosen the correct forum to post this but anyway...

It's been a week and maybe more since I requested the silver online award and the same holds true for a deletion of a wrong pirep I submitted by mistake. So far nothing is changed.
I am not complaining as I understand everyone's time is restricted and managing a VA (or participating in the management) is a time-consuming task but I would like to suggest th eimplemenentation of a delete/update functionality which will enable the pilot to delete or correct a pirep without having to request it and then wait. This will reduce the VA's staff work as well.
Also, I am not convinced that the whole awards system serves anything. If it was somehow automated or the responce time could be improved it would be a nice feature but as it is now I think it jsut spoils the image. Further to this I believe most pilots are here for experience of flying from anf to many destinations and EHM can provide this experience very well. As a conclusion. Are we sure we really need the awards?

The awards system I would suggest is really popular. Many people fly tours as opposed to main timetable flights and I'm sure the awards system is a significant factor in this.

There is an automated awards system that works for most awards but it doesn't reward immediately. I'm sure others here could tell how often the database is checked for awards.

The current management restructuring which I think is expected to be in place by early April should help the response times significantly. This also should answer the question about self-correcting PIREPS. Ultimately there has to be some checks in place - not because the system is likely to be abused but because genuine errors are made.

So, in short - awards are integral to pretty much any VA and the awards system here at EHM I believe allows people to earn rewards fairly early in their career and then build up to more difficult to acquire rewards as their career progresses. This therefore promotes the EHM career structure and IMHO encourages people to fly EHM. The website at EHM is one of the best for a VA and includes some great features including an automatic reward system, the superb ACARS and EHM flightlogger and this incredibly valuable forum. If the awards are not instantly awarded therefore or time passes between making a request and getting a response please do be patient. All people here have real lives outside of virtual aviationand will respond given time.

Well, about the delete/update pirep funcionality sure we can think about it one day. Right now we dont have that option because the Hub Captain should always take a look at the PIREP even if the pilot knows that it is incorrect. I will point your comments about it because I think you have some point about it ... After all, a pilot could take off HC work, if the pilot already knows that the PIREP is incorrect.

About the Award system, when we say that the system is automated, it is automated on the analysis basis. That means that the system will calculate all the Awards that you should have (not counting the Legend/Instructor type awards). But, the script runs manually. That means that I should run it from time to time...

I think we have the balance pretty much right here at Euroharmony. There is a real contribution to the environment that pilots fly in and a real effort made to bring that into a 'virtual' career structure that whilst not exactly mirroring real life does raise the enjoyment of the whole flight sim experience. The system of PIREPs and awards is a part of that experience that I think is a good balance.

You could confidently take flight hours from EHM and know that they would be accepted by another VA as a result of the rigour with which they are recorded here. However, it is possible to also step over the line - BAV for example provides a far more rigorous flight check system. Personally, that would inhibit my flight sim experience too much and consequently I prefer the EHM experience. Again though there are VAs set up (and you can find them easily on the Internet) where the rigour of the management system is just non-existent and the timetable exists as a static entity on the web.

I guess what I'm aiming at here is that EHM is a balance between the 'free for all' VAs and the 'ultra realistic' VAs and for me that balance is pretty much right and the award and PIREP systems in place are a crucial part of that balance. - What do other folk think?

I am totally agree with you Phil. Here in the EHM there is great balance between the realism you want and the frredom. You can fly whetever you like - divisions and main- from the 3rd class. You can say that I will be a Business pilot or Cargo let's say. The degree of the realism depends on you. You can fly online asa areal pilot or you can fly offline with a clear wether and no wind. -Easy landings, right-  And for the class 1 and 2 pilots: It is better to fly with small props at the beginning. Believe me...

And I want to add something about comunication. Here is the atmosphere is great. People are kind and willing to help you when you have any kind of problem. You can not find these kind persons in every VA.

I am very happy to be here and I am very happy and proud of being a EHM pilot at all...

Noone said there is no balance in EHM. After all, this is why I am personally here after flying with three other VAs (I am still flying with one of them in parallel) and indeed what attracted me in EHM is the sence of freedom it provides along with the seriousness of what we do here. This is balance of course. Of course I like the feature of awards and the virtual carees but I also noticed a lot messages in the forum talking about the dalays in the awards update. I can understand that there is no much option with the awards where the real lives of the staff (which I originally mentioned) does not leave much time (perfectly understood). My suggestion is actually to consider at least the pilot's update/delete on wrong pireps sometime in the future. It will really help the staff as well.
