Assigned Flights
EHM-1199 Philip:
I don't know how this would offer something additional to what we already have. Would the assigned flights be from one of our hubs to a destination we don't already fly to? Would they be single or 'tour' type assignments? Either way, I personally think I've got so much choice here at EHM I probably wouldn't use the flight assignments feature unless there was a real incentive. I.E. - flights assigned work towards an 'assignment' award.
Otherwise, why not just pick off the flights from the already extensive database?
EHM-1001 Robert:
To have a "monthly/weekly mission" offered for the pilots is not only a hard work for the management, but brings a pushy environment into our free world. I mean you can fly the flight which you want, and when you want. If you are hunting for an award, you can decide how fast you reach that.
I do not understand what is good in a hobby, if I MUST do something, then it is a profession and not a hobby. If I have a bad week and I cannot fly a single hour, the weekly schedule would go to the trashcan. I do not think it is a good idea, even if some other VAs use the system.
EHM-1506 Emre:
Yes you are right Robert. We like this airline because of its not pushy, right.
OK. Let me offer someting a bit different what you have been talking. We have missions at the divisions part and not at the main flights, right. We can do pop-up missions for the main division just for fun. For example:
At EHAM one of our planes' engine burned out(Sounds bad for the management) and we have to make -let's say- a flight from EHAM to EGLL. There are so many unpatient passengers waiting for the plane. And someone had to do this flight before the passengers destroy the airport. ;)
We can create short stories every week and management can want us to do the job. The mission will be announced at the site and everyone, who wish, can fly for this mission. But offcourse there will be some constraints to fly this flight. Some experinece needed etc. And there can be a choosen plane for the mission.
Just a variation for the main flights. At that way there is an opportunity for the guys who seeks something different and there is no assignment, only voluntiers.
I hope I meant what I meant to be, at a clear way.
Please send your feedbacks. :)

EHM-1001 Robert:
I understand that. It would be the same like now we have for EuroBusiness low classes: a dynamic timetable which have a storyline in the background, so why the pilot is flying. It is much more free than assign a personal, and must-be-done flight to a pilot. As it means more work from the team, I could not make a decision here ;)
But for some reasons, it may sounds, like some of the pilots found boring the main timetable. Maybe not directly, just they need always some extra thing for a flight. Well, when I have some time to do an EHM flight, I always have some story in my mind, why I choose that flight, and how will I do that. That is just my mental add-on for the fun, and it works well for me. I am not sure, I would select those dynamic flights if those were appeared. When I made the EuroBusiness dynamic timetable, I always included some flights that I WANTED to do, but after the statistics, it was only me who wanted to do. And next to it, there were many other interesting stories for flying, which was not popular. So thinking of a new flight every week/month/..that fits to pilots taste, is very difficult.
So, afterall, I think the main timetable gives enough variety, challenge, and possible storyline for a flight. I think it is up to the pilot to think of his/her own story for a flight, and not fly only for collecting the hours, but really for the fun ! Even, you can do a flight more times if you want...like say...I love Concorde, and I want to do a Heathrow-JFK return trip every week. If you think it is boring, than you can always find another and another destination that you have not visited yet. And it is all freeeeeee! ;D
EHM-1438 Nikos:
I agree with Robert. It is better to preserve the free spirit of the VA. I would suggest though to enhance the business division-like schedule somehow. An idea would be to have similar cargo flights simulating for example mail delivery in small airports (being an LGAV pilot I would like to see that kind of flights connecting the Greek islands), or even requested heavy loads transportations in the same style as business division.
A quite out of scope but related suggestion would be to have even smaller (and very local) aircrafts like a Grand Caravan and why not a DC3 undertaking those small cargo/mail delivery flights.
