That's odd - i put the new random number thing in the thread log in and it seems to have worked but i am not permanately logged in - i had to re-enter the username and password for this thread as well???

So when you use the lost password feature it gives you your password, but in encrypted form :s . Have you tried doing the login in, and going to the control panel to change the password?

Do you have cookies enabled? You see, if you want the forum to keep you logged in all the time, you need a cookie from the forum (a small file) and then everytime you log it, it knows that you want to be logged in. The cookies are saved in your temp internet files, so you might have deleated it.
