EHM-1507 Manuel:
Hi folks!

last week I recieved this incredible clip of an 747 approach at HongKong:

(I hope the link will work) :%

Is that real or an fake?
If that is real, what a great pilot!!!
I´m sure it had been an real thrilling experience for the passengers, too

regards!

EHM-0654 Murray:
Oh, that's real all right!

I've seen the original video clip on a Discovery Wings program (may well have been the A380 series...). There was a really heavy cross-wind with strong localised updrafting that day, hence the PIC having to side-slip the end of the approach.

Most undercarriage designers and engineers have that clip on their computers too, to remind them why they must over-engineer landing gear; the entire 747 comes down on just one of the four main struts, and remains there for a good 5 seconds before the PIC gets the other three on the deck.

EHM-1703 Philip:
Sorry mate. I can't get the link to work!

I got it (or something similar) to work this morning, but I can't right now, and I can't find the URL I used in WMP either.

EDIT: The Intarweb can be a wonderful thing... not the same video clip, but similar:

FURTHER EDIT: And mere moments later, the original clip hosted elsewhere:

EHM-1703 Philip:
Thanks Murray, will have a look at them now.
