LPMA Overload Event
« on: March 27, 2006, 10:59:49 am »
Dear pilots,

In the next 30 March, at 2000Z it is going to start an overload event at LPMA on IVAO.

Basically, the "Overload" events are events organized by a portuguese team (called Overload team) and the objective is to "overload" the ATC on a given airport.

So, all of you are invited to join them, even if you don't do a reservation on their site.

You can consult them at http://overload.web.simplesnet.pt/index_uk.html#Next

If you participate, don't forget to take some screenshots and share them with us ;) .

Regards,

I think I should be able to make that as I should be home from work for that time. Are we starting from LPPT at 2000z or aiming to reach LPMA for 2000z?

Okay, now for the important stuff, is there any decent freeware scenery for LPMA or LPPT? I don't find the FS2004 basic stuff that interesting so I would like to change it. If there is no Freeware, does anybody know what the best payware stuff is?

Thanks

LPPT have a nice freeware scenery on AVSIM. It maybe not the latest, but I use it for FS2004 and it is a very nice add-on: "PORTELA 2003 1.3 " It contains even a little bit of Lisbon city scenery as well.

With a bit of luck I might be able to join you, LPPT-LPMA. Robert, are we departing LPPT at 2000Z or arriving LPMA 2000Z??

Oh, sorry Iain, I did not red your post in time. I departed at around 20:00Z. I made a terrible approach, so after reporting go-around I disconnected. I could not control the 757. I flew it this time with the Lonny Payne panel, but there can be a nasty gauge in it because it flew terrible. It bowed -5 degrees when levelled, the airbrake did not work at all, and it went up like a rocket at minimum speed ?!

Anyway the event was well coordinated, although I had some other difficulties too. CTR came online for some minutes and cleared everybody to LIDRO which is already in the approach path, and I could not find it for minutes. He did not care about my 3-4 other waypoints yet to pass on my way. I felt complete dumb myself. Next to it, I clearly stated another STAR, so I do not understood this clearance ???!!! Then the guy quickly disappeared, and another one took his place with more time/talent. Then APP caused me some trouble, when changed the expected runway twice in 5 minutes, "because of traffic ahead" :s Anyway I was not good either this time. Last time with Razza this flight went so sweet...need to practice more, and analize that 757.

Good luck Iain on your approach ;)

Looks like I'm the only one left, Iain disconnected as well! Oh well, 30 mins to arrival, things are calming down a little now, so hopefully I should have a good approach!

*EDIT* Well........ Then it went very wrong! After being passed off to LPMA_APP I was informed of the runway change to, yep RWY05! Here's me in an A330-300, fully loaded with pax & freight and they are asking me to make my first ever 05 app in to LPMA! Oh well, what the hell! It didn't turn out as bad as I expected although I did make a large error and commited to land instead of going around! I only ran off the end of the runway by 140 feet!!!!! Oh well, all pax were safe and PP didn't crash me so I guess it wasnt as bad as it looked! lol At least I made it down, I think I was the only EHM flight to land in Funchal tonight!

I thought I connected at 2000Z(2100BST). As Phil knows, it didn't go to well either for me Robert. At the taxi, my throttles became unsynchonised and no amout of E,1,2 would get them back together again. Guess I'll have to pay for FSUIPC. The TOGA mode took control OK though. Just after I got to cruise, the FMC decided that it was time for descent with hundreds of miles to go. Eventually I gave up and disconnected. I'll try the flight again when I get time and I will take RW5!!
