EHM-1703 Philip:
Well its my turn to have fun! I've had a lot of problems with my PC, it's been warmer here today and it has been overheating so it looks like I will be getting that new Graphics card sooner rather than later! Anyway, I digress, I'm on the leg now and wow, do I have some penalties. Max V Speed, and Overspeed! Hit some Towering Cumolonimbus clouds outside of Cleveland and the turbulance sent me in to a dive! anyway, I'm currently skimming along at 2500ft which is only about 800ft AGL at the moment! I'm shooting video on this leg, so expect a little movie in a day or two!

EDIT*** Click on the picture for the Low Res video, it's a WMV Stream of about 15mb. (Sorry if it's slow!)

EHM-0654 Murray:
Phil... two words for you (and a paragraph thereafter): air duster

Give your machine a good clear out of dust with an air duster. And a great trick - have a vacuum cleaner running closeby to catch all the dust. *DO NOT*, under *ANY* circumstances, put the nozzle of a vacuum cleaner anywhere near the inside of the PC though. They [vacuum cleaners] generate pretty major negative  (positive? I can never remember which) charges while running and can easily blow motherboard conmponents. But leaving the open, running nozzle nearby while air dusting the filth toward the nozzle saves later work...

I have a "every 5 secs" FS video of this leg myself (flown yesterday morning)... I'll go through it today sometime and pull a few shots out. Other than a strong cross wind at landing, and a 20kt headwind the whole way, the weather was great for me (current Active Sky user, using the AS hi-res datafeed rather than the VATSIM feed...)

EHM-1703 Philip:
Thanks Murray but unfortunately the problem is not dust. (my machine is cleaned weekly) It's an early version of a good graphics card (Saphire ATI X800XL) and they used poor quality, inefficient fans. I can try to replace the fan but as the manufaturers fan is "GLUED" on it is very rare that you can remove it without damage. (I've been reading forum posts about this card for months now!) I guess that will be my first step but have to resign myself to the fact that I will be replacing it sooner than I had hoped. I was hoping I could replace it at the end of the year when the new DX10 cards come out, oh well!

EHM-0654 Murray:
OK, have you considered additional localised cooling?
