I was just doing my first flight, when I noticed the planes don't have Virtual Cockpits. I don't mind flying 2D, but I prefer Virtual, so is there someway to get a virtual Cockpit, such as copying files from the Beechcraft into the plane, but I don't know which files to copy.

Some of the planes do have VC's, some don't... This is a feature of how the aeroplane model was designed and you can't add a VC by cut and pasting files (unfortunately ;D). It's either there or not...

So you need to try out the different planes (as your rank allows) and you'll find ones with VC that you can use...

Hope that helps.

Yes, unfortunately the most freeware airplanes do not have VC, or have a low-quality one. All the payware planes have VC, and those are rock ! ;)

You need to purchase the payware aircraft that we have repaints for. Most of them can be purchased by download from the manufacturers website. These planes are:

PMDG Beech 1900 (I hear its good but don't have it) CLASS 1
PMDG 737-800 (Excellent) CLASS 5
Level D 767 (Excellent) CLASS 6
PSS A330 (Good but getting on a bit now) CLASS 6
PMDG 747 (Excellent) CLASS 7
PSS 777 (Very good but can be tempramental on some PC's) CLASS 7

The repaints for these aircraft are available on the fleet download pages for these aircraft.

Of course, these are not much use if you do not have the rank to use them so in most cases you will have to use the freewares until you get your hours up, sorry. (I have put the rank classes you need to attain for each plane above)

I would whole heartedly recommend the PMDG 737-800 as it is a great plane for Novice and Proffesional pilots and only takes a week or two to learn the systems. Hope this helps.

Yep...they all have FMC. You have to purchase the plane from PMDG but in the fleet section we have repaints for all the pmdg models which work very well. Jim

so you have to buy the plane from PDMG, and then you have the repaints? Sounds good.

PMDG is the best as far as I'm concerned..

I'd recommend the 747 QoTs

well, I'll get to 747 when I've got there. For now, I'm trying to scrap money for the beechcraft lol.

Just to let you know E4S ... elsewhere on the forum I asked whether or not the B1900D from PMDG was worth the money and I received a clear 'yes' vote back from folks that do use it.
I will be taking the plunge soon so I'll let you know how I get on.

thanks! I think I caught that topic. Something about doubting "express" but I was just skip reading, so i wouldn't know. It would be nice to hear from somebody who's using it.

I wish I could change my username. I'm not E4S anymore. I'm 1883, but I don't really mind. Usually you have to ask the admin, but I'm not sure whether it's like that on this forum.

ok. I usually have an avater aswell, but I'm waiting for when I do a tour hopefully.

I got the dornier, and I want to install that panel. I put the panel inside the folder "Panel" and it was still the default panel. What do you do?

I did exactly what I said. I copied all the files (except Gauges, which I put in the gauges folder) in the folder for the Dornier. I can't work this out, as it once again just had the Defualt Panel.

And Finally (sorry for all this) the ATR has no gauges. Is that right?

When I want to replace a panel, I delete (completely delete) the folder inside the aircraft (in this case, the Dornier). Then, I cop y the panel from the default MS plane and paste that folder inside the EHM plane's folder (for example, if you wanted the 737 panel for the Dornier, completely delete the panel folder in the Dornier file, copy the panel folder from the default Boeing 737, and paste it into the Dorneir's folder). This has worked for me every time, no hitches.

And no, the ATR doesn't have gauges. At least none that I've found.

Finally, don't be sorry for asking! I've asked many questions, and I've probably annoyed many people, but don't be ashamed to ask... that's what the forums are here for ;D

well, I'm glad that you're not annoyed. On another Virtual Airline, after submitting, it went blank. I said on the forum that there might be some problems. The Admin got annoyed saying that that's normal, and that I should shutup. I got the e-mail, but I haven't visited that VA since. That's why I like this one.

When I was installing the ATR, it said that it came with Gauges that needed to be put in the gauges folder, but I couldn't find anything like that, so maybe that's the problem. We haven't got that folder.

Matt,

The ATR-42 is a lovely model with VC but it was designed for FS2002 and unfortunately the gauges don't work properly in FS9. I remember when I installed it (over a year ago) some of the gauges came out the wrong size and overlapped the surrounding area - I was able to use gauges from another panel to fill the gaps but unfortunately I've upgraded my system since then so I don't have that version any more... Sorry! I guess Robert (the fleet manager) may have removed the gauges pending a new version of this plane..?)

I'll have a look on Avsim (if you don't use www.avsim.com you should - it's a brilliant resource for FS with a huge file library) to see if there are any alternative panels you could try...

And like Ben says, don't be afraid to ask ;)

EDIT: I've checked Avsim (you need to register to get access to the file library but this is free and very easy) and there is an updated ATR-42 with working panel and VC for FS9, it's an update of the one we use for the EHM fleet so:-

1. you need to download the file "atr425-tcp2.zip" from the library by Jean Francois COLOMBAIN (my thanks to him for his hard work updating the ATR:P) and install it (it comes with an installer so this is easy).

2. Then you just need to delete the panel folder in your ehmatr42 plane folder (in Program Files/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator 9/aircraft)

3. then copy and paste the panel folder from inside the new ATR-42 you've just downloaded (which is called "ATR 42-500 - Freelance TCP" also in your aircraft folder) into the ehmatr42 folder.

Once you've done that you should be able to load up your EHM ATR-42 and enjoy the lovely VC and all working instruments !!

Try it and let me know if it works for you. Just take it step by step... ;)

Matt, Keep trying - there is a help guide you can use... What exactly does it say when you try to log in? By the way I've edited my previous post with some extra information so please have a look at the new version ;D

It's when I try to download. It loads the thing, and then it says:

"Cannot open C:\Documents and Settings\Matthew\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\OXYFC63\atr425-tcp2[1].zip"

Do other people have that?

I've just done a search on my computer. I got up to the file

C:\Documents and Settings\Matthew\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\OXYFC563

And then the search failed

I have a feeling you need to "save" rather than "open" the download, then it should give you the option of where you want to save it to...

I've tried that. The Gauges are all out of place. For now, I think I'll stick to the dornier lol.
