cruise speed and fuel burn

EHM-1821 Javier:
i am not too good at converting units so i guess i'll just have to use the gauge as a reference.

Thanks

EHM-1821 Javier:
Today I made a flight and i landed with barely enough fuel.

after some calculations, this is what i have:

B734 - 168 gallons/hour
B744 - 600 gallons/hour
B773 - 13060 pounds/hour
C208 - 410 pounds/hour

Is this correct? someone check for me.
If possible could someone convert them into gallons for me?

Thanks

EHM-1570 Bruce:
Hi Javier

I do not fly the 744 or the 773 enough to say what the fuel burn will be, however the 738 will burn approx 5000lbs/hr at 0.8M at  flight levels of around FL300+. To convert Gallons to LBS you multply by 6.7 and vice versa.

The guage is FF, or fuel flow (per hour). There is a rough estimate as to how far away you are from your arrival airport in the handheld GPS, so the hours from your destination x the indicated fuel flow should give you your total fuel consumtion for a flight.

what is the unit used to mesure the amount of fuel eg.pounds per hour?

because in the 737-400, it was 3.8 for both engines and i  figured that it could not be pounds or maybe gallons.

EHM-1570 Bruce:
The figure shown on the engine guages are usually in thousands of pounds/hour so your instrument is showing 3.8, this is 3800LBS/Hr
