Starting FS
EHM-1617 Iain:
It's important to have the FL running before engine start, and after engine shutdown. Here is what I do when I'm not ProPiloting:
1)Select flight in the online timetable
2)Start FS in windowed mode, shut down default Cessna because its easy to shutdown at any airport
3)Load FL, select flight and aircraft in FL, double click timetable flight line to move to correct airport gate and set time
4)Select required aircraft in FS (which should then be shutdown)
5)Check FL selections of aircraft and route, then move to the Logging page
6)Maximise FS if desired and fly
7)After shutdown, window FS
8)Check stats in the FL, adjust if necessary
9)Save ACARS and PIREP, submit to EHM and IVAO if flying online
If no data is recorded, check you have FSUIPC.dll in your Flight Simulator 9/Modules folder.
If propiloting, then book your flight in the online propilot system instead of step 1; step 2 as usual; step 3: simply press the propilot button instead of manually selecting, and then double click flight line as usual.
Good Luck ;)
EHM-1909 Chris:
Hi everyone and thanks for your welcomes and replies.
Phil, your answer to my first question has worked fine. Regarding your advice for my second problem; I downloaded FSUIPC, placed the FSUIPC dll file in the Modules folder and installed "WeatherSet 2". Do I need to do anything with the TrafficLook file?
I don't have Office 2003 yet, but plan to get it in a month or so. Do I need it to submit the PIREPs from FL?
FL is now connecting to FS, I pressed the read airports button (Do I need to do this everytime I start up FL?) and local and online ACARS are enabled however, when I click "Update" in FL I get the following message:
"Runtime error '-2147217887(80040e21)':"
"Multiple-step operation generated errors. Check each status value."
Then FL shuts down.
The green lights next to Aircraft and Flight are lit, but while the Selected aircraft name reads Dornier 328 etc, the Current aircraft name reads N/A.
I think that's about it. I really appreciate the help with this. I never realised how computer illiterate I actually am!
Chris
EHM-1617 Iain:
Current aircraft is the aircraft currently loaded into FS. You only need to press read airports whenever you change your FS scenery or get new AFCADs or a new FL version.
Regarding Office, there are some FL problems associated with not having office, something about msbind.dll. Do a search on this forum.
TrafficLook, I think you can leave it alone.
EHM-1909 Chris:
Thanks Iain.
I had a few problems with FL initially but followed the advice on the forum and reregistered msbind.dll and another .dll file. That sorted it out so hopefully msbind won't be a problem anymore. Oh, another question you'll be able to help with. Feel daft asking this but, what does it mean when you say "with Zulu to land" or "with Bravo to land" when you request a full stop landing from the Tower?
EHM-1703 Philip:
Chris,
Glad to hear we have sorted you out somewhat and that at least you are starting with your engines off.
You only need to read the airports after installing a new version of FL. So you won't have to press this button again until next time the Fllight Logger is updated.
The one thing that does puzzle me slightly is the error you are getting when pressing the Update button, this is one I have not heard of before. I guess as you have the list of flights to pick from this is not of great importance until next time the schedule changes. You should now be able to file a flight using the FL if it is connected to FS.
As for you last question about the information indentifier (Zulu etc.) this was discussed over the weekend in another forum post which can be found by clicking HERE
Hope this helps. Good luck!
