Ken mitchels a320 panel(autothrottle problem

Ive posted this before but forgotten the answer.When i use the a320(Ken mitchel panel) and iam setting heading alt etc i also arm the authrottle and set a speed of 250kts after i taken of at acertain point i hit the speed button but the autothrottle does not engage  and its only after some frantic fiddling about that i can get it to engage i dont have this problem with other planes any ideas please.As i say somebody did email me with the right sequence for the Ken mitchel panel but ive forgotten it.
