Dear MT,

Please note that the 2nd version of Google Maps was released in April 2006 which fixed important performance issues. More about version 2 can be found here: http://googlemapsapi.blogspot.com/2006/04/google-maps-api-version-2.html

One of the most important things is the fact that it has less memory leaks, so the computer of the visitor doesn't slow down after intensive use of the map.
