Dassault Falcon 50EX performance
EHM-0005 Maarten:
Hi all,
Today, I decided to fly a new type of aircraft that I was not familiar with, so I downloaded the Dassault Falcon 50EX of EHB. After making some circuits the handling felt good and I was ready for my first flight, well I thought so :).
My climb was according to the Flight Operations Manual that was included with this aircraft; Initially 3400 ft/min @ 200 kts and after that 260 kts till M0.72. The problem is that I never made it to M0.72. Around FL300 my v/s was 200 ft/min in order to maintain my speed above 200 kts. With my planned cruise level of FL350 it would take 25 min to get there. When I got to FL330 I decided to request FL330 as my cruising level.
During level-off my airspeed did climb a bit, but became stable at M0.63 (231 kts) (target speed was M0.80 @ FL350). I decided to end the flight, because I would probably not make it to my destination (not enough fuel).
What's your experience with this aircraft? Am I the only one who has problems with this aircraft? I checked out the website of the aircraft, but there's no useful information there. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the aircraft was designed for FS2002?
EHM-1549 Stefan:
Hi Maarten,
I've made more or less the same experience like you with the Falcon 50 and I'm still using FS2002. I suppose that this aircraft won't fly better with FSX. :|
Actually I like the F50, like you said, the handling feels good and the aircraft flies very smoothly. But if you are climbing higher than ~FL250 it's like you're loosing 2 engines and fly with only 1 engine left. ;D
So I take it only for short haul flights and choose another one for longer flights.
Cheers
EHM-0005 Maarten:
Thanks for your reply. It's a pitty that it's a bug in the aircraft, I hoped it was my fault :).
I guess I will stick to the good ol' Fokker 70/100
EHM-1505 Phil:
I know it's a daft question, but have you checked your fuel and payload? I found with a clean install of the Falcon for some reason I was overloaded by about 20%. I can also tell you that it does not work on FSX.
EHM-0005 Maarten:
The aircraft was not too heavy. The CG was quite far forward, but within limits. Besides that, a more forward CG is normal for these kind of aircraft.
