Lisbon - Dakar 2007 : Official Discussion thread
EHM-1714 João:
Hi!
I've had Flight Simulator become inaccessible for a few minutes while the plane kept flying (meaning that if I was using some ACARS program the flight parameters would continue to be registered), until FS crashed. Maybe this is what happened to our college.
Just my opinion, but he should be given second change after flying all those legs. We're all here just for fun, right!?
Regards,
João
EHM-1199 Philip:
Joao,
Thanks for this. I really don't know what happened here. I do know that I've never tried to buck the system here and part of what riled me last night was the feel that folks felt their data was infallible and I knew differently. It is, as others have said, only a game :)
As it happens, I was wrestling to fly these legs and despite having an opportunity for a long weekend away was actually going to stay home til tomorrow morning to fly that extra leg. Daft really. Will now have a longer weekend away by leaving earlier tomorrow or maybe this eve :) All good in the end. Will definitely re-install FS when I return and before I fly any more PP flights.
Was very disappointing to have spent time only to drop out but really not the end of the world.
EHM-1001 Robert:
Well, it happened to me many times that Logger lost connection with ...something... It became white, but ran at the background, and came back after about 2 minutes, and continued recording the ACARS. There was not any problem on the return phase. It did not make any penalties upon that, so I think it works in the background but unable to report to the server...maybe a "CPU Quota Exceeded Error" is happening at the site.
The main thing it is a bit annoying but cannot cause you unwanted penalties. And if you check that ACARS on that picture, Logger was alive with half minute recordings. ;)
EHM-1908 Steve:
Well i have just arrived back at LPPT ;D
What a great event Paris-Dakar on Pro-Pilot.
This was my first ProPilot event and now i can't wait for the next. It's good to see air fields that i would not normally fly to or even countries that i would not fly to.
Well done to the MT for setting up the event ;)
Could i perhaps suggest that the next Pro-Pilot outing could visit Russia or China ?
Congrats to all other Paris - Dakar pilots hope we did'nt damage or lose too many aircraft :$
Steve
EHM-1703 Philip:
Steve, well done on getting to the end, I'm not far behind you!
The congrats should really gop to Bruno, he set it up again! It was his baby. I can tell you that the next event may visit some strange and exotic places but not necessarilly the way you would expect!!! Keep your eyes posted, you have a bit of time off first so enjoy it!!!! :)
Cheers
