FIA Meljet Model - STALL Penalty @ 270 TAS

<< < (2/2)

EHM-1703 Philip:
It all depends on your load, a very heavy bird with excessive fuel as well as cargo weight will stall easier than a light bird.

The 747-400F tech specs for a clean config require an optimum cruise speed of M.84.

The stall speeds vary from 152 KIAS for an empty weight to 214 KIAS for a loaded bird in clean configuration. A plane with a gross weight of 300,000 KG will need to maintain 184KIAS in clean config to prevent it from stalling.

EHM-1001 Robert:
I realized many times at Meljet model, that when you decrease your speed and extend Flaps 10 at 200 kts, a warning sounds came, and stays until 170 kts. But I never had a stall with it at 180 kts with full flaps. I land the bird with full flaps, at 140 kts on the last 2 miles, and it never got stalled :s Maybe the answer is at Phil.

EHM-2029 Sotiris:
As for the noise that Robert mentions, it stops as soon as you extend you landing wheels. (at least that's what happened to me so far).
