EHM-0250 Magnus:
I read about the Lamborghini here too.

And yes, they have 911's in Germany. I have seen them myself.

The Italian highway police gave a special gift. It is nothing else than a Lamborghini Gallardo, 5000 ccm, 500 BHP monster at a topspeed around 310 kph

The Lamborghini that costs 165.000 dolls, was given by the Bolognese factory to the Italian police. They will use it mainly not against crime but for moving human transplantations really really fast, because there is a frigerator box installed in the front of the car.

I guess Italian policemen and police women can try out the beast in intercepting missions too. ;)

It is not the first case when Italy uses a sportscar at the police. In the 60s they used a black Ferrari for intercepting. There was a "famous" chase when the black Ferrari ran down the well-known "Spanish stairs" in Rome. The officers who tried out the car, said they do not need such manouvers to be prominent. The car itself is enough. Also it is very unique when a tall, blonde beauty gets off the car in police uniform.

Back in the 70s, when the dutch economy was sky rocketing, the dutch highway police used Porsche 911s to persuit speeding violators. Unfortunatly, times have changed and the police could no longer afford the maintanance of the Porsches. As a result, we now mainly use Volvo S80s and Mercedes C-series to persuit violators.

Why Volvo? Because we have a Volvo factory in Holland ;D As far as I know, except for Sweden, Holland is the olny country in the world which has a Volvo factory. If I'm not mistaken many of the Volvo cars inside Europe are manufactured here.

EHM-0588 Paul:
Nedcar is not a Volvo factory, it produces the Volvo S40 and V40 but they also manufacture the Smart forfour and the  Mitsubishi Colt and Space Star.

I don't think the police will use a Smart or Colt for persuits though. ;)

EHM-0813 Guillermo:
:]

is that the factory near Den Bosch? (or Eindhoven I can't remember, but I do see it every time on the way to Eindhoven)

EHM-0588 Paul:
Nedcar is in Born (limburg), DAF is in Eindhoven (Trucks). Is there also a car factory near Den Bosch?
