Awards and avatars delay?
« on: May 16, 2007, 12:39:27 pm »
Hi,

This is NOT the 5743th post like "I've done the flights, where is my award?" post, although it is actually true. I also noticed that my automatic avatar is more than two weeks old (by the indicated "Last Modified" date).

If this is a purely technical problem, it looks to me (as I work in software development field) like the program crashes before reaching high ID-s (as mine is, I am one of the newest active members at this time).

And, also because I have experience in software development, I offer to help if needed - provided this requires a reasonable amount of work in the evenings / weekends.

By the other hand, if operating these programs requires human intervention, we are all human (and busy ones, that is) so I have no problem if I just have to wait a bit longer.

Cheers
Andrei

Andrei,

As the most recent author of the avatar script (well, strictly speaking, it's a tie between myself and Magnus) I'll "fall on my sword" for this one, but I'm taking our hosting company with me...

They've recently been hurting us with system freezes whenever particularly complex scripts are run, and I suspect that the award script is being killed off by them (thank goodness we're moving everything to a dedicated server...)

I have a special version of the award script which I can use to process single pilots; I'll re-do yours manually now.

Thanks Murray,

So I "managed" to disturb someone though this was not my intention. Sorry for that.

Anyway, I am still offering to help as long as software is concerned, if need exists and you don't already have a crowd of people proposing the same.

Cheers
Andrei

Nici o problemă Andrei

(Ain't the Intarweb a wonderful thing...)

I'll pass your offer on to the relevant MT members - what programming languages do you do?

Well, in 15 years I used a lot of languages.

From those that may (still) be of interest there are Java/J2EE and .Net but a little PHP won't harm me either. Did other web-related stuff (HTML/JavaScript/AJAX) too. Familiar with databases (many kinds).

And this may be the shortest resume I ever wrote. Not too short, I hope :)
