ILS Frequencies

talking of ILS frequencies, something weird has happened to me recently with these. I tune the frequency in the NAV like you usually do, get the plane lined up, and then click it on so AP will then take me down the glidescope, but recently, whenever I switch it on, it throws my aircraft violently to the left, and sends me away from the airport. I just waited to see where it would take me, and it just turns me left, and then carries on in the new direction its turned the plane to.
I haven't changed the radio or anything. It's just suddenly started doing that. I've had to do visual manual landings for the last few flights, which is no problem, but like on the EHM 6th bday event, I was worried that since my ILS wasn't working, I might not make a nice approach, and then cause havoc, or I might crash after such a long flight. Luckily I didn't, but I just want this fixed for the future.

This sounds very much like the Captain Sim 757 - I couldn't get it to work either, after trying a multitude of airports!
EHM-2097 Andrei:
I "managed" to get the same behaviour once when I mistook the ILS frequency and set it for the opposite direction. In this case, the AP trying to correct the lateral offset triggers a positive reaction that results in a very lateral course - just as Matt said.
I suppose the same occurs if you set the frequency well but engage backcourse following. And there must be panels that don't have a "backcourse" gauge but it may still be engaged by inadvertent keystroke.
Ny the other hand, this does not explain a systematic behaviour so there should be other causes too.
Cheers
Andrei
