Active Sky & Overspeed

EHM-2029 Sotiris:
Hi All,

though not strictly a propilot question it nonetheless has many consequences on PP scores.
I have recently got Active Sky. Does running this when online at IVAO help to avoid the massive changes in wind speed/direction and thus to avoid the dreaded overspeed penalty?

EHM-1689 Lukasz:
Well, I've got Active Sky and...I have the same problem as you.

AS update isn't...fluently, as it base on the METAR of the nearest airport. AS is just better than FS-built weather system, but isn't perfect.

EHM-1009 Kevin:
I fly with activesky but offline not via vatsim or ivao but i still can get overspeed when cruising. I recommend what has been mentioned on the board for a long time now and that iss to fly under the recommended mach cruise speed. iwhen i fly 747 or 330 i usually fly at .80 mch or .82 and i havnt recieved overspeed when the wind changes.

i have also read (some time ago) somewhere on the forum that with a registered fsupic u can alter a setting with minimises this problem i will search a direct if i find this post again.

EHM-0654 Murray:
That'd be "wind smoothing" and yes, you need paid for FSUIPC for it (but buy it, is deffo worth the money)

In fact, reged FSUIPC does a whole bunch of weather smoothing.

EHM-1703 Philip:
I can only agree with Murray, FSUIPC is a fantastic piece of software and if you are going to buy any addon, this one is worth it as so many add-ons use it now!
