Light Relief?

<< < (5/5)

EHM-1883 Matt:
update: just tried it again, luckily got it out of the window and got it to 50nm. I think I'm starting to pick it up

EHM-1358 Tim:
50 Nautical Miles!!!!

Impressive. ;D

EHM-2029 Sotiris:
Well,

after exhaustive tests and a bit of a tweak, it looks like the best that you can get is 114.734.
So far 5 friends got exactly the same...

The tweak is to take the plane to very left edge, take the cursor out of the flash animation, and then, bring it around the flash to point at the exact point of release for maximum speed.

Let me know how it goes....

EHM-0654 Murray:
Haven't beaten 108.891M yet myself, and the "trick" is to *NOT* loop-the-loop at all (let alone twice, great way to ruin an otherwise good throw...) Sotiris, your launching technique definitely helps with the longer throws. Just to help the rest of us, are you leaving the plane at the very top of the screen, or slightly down a bit, or what? And in terms of the "launch", where do you bring the mouse pointer back in.

Personally, I've been putting the plane about halfway between the dado rail and the ceiling, and I launch with the pointer a little above the skirting (otherwise it hits the floor if you're lower on the launch point)

EHM-2029 Sotiris:
OK,

you're right Murray.
My previous tips were not so helpful although that was my knowledge at the time.
The way it's achieved now is as follows:
Place the plane very top and very far left. Almost to the point where it disappears from view.
Release point: above the skirting board is:
a) A couple of thin lines just above it
b) A rather thick darker strip
c) A thinner dark strip

Release at the top of the second thick dark strip.
It should work.

Btw, they have launched a variant with the same underlying fundamentals (even the background noise is the same) but the distances achieved are much higher. So far at 146 meters.
