Tony Wilson dead...

EHM-0654 Murray:
Only just found out, Tony Wilson (manager of the Happy Mondays, Joy Division, the Hacienda club in Manchester) died at the age of 56 today as a result of cancer.

He'll be missed by me fer sure...

Hmmmm.... I can't say I really liked the guy but I wouldn't wish Cancer on him. It is a shame all the same!

was he some BBC radio presenter or something?

He was a TV presenter (most popular in teh 80's and early 90's) and did some radio stuff, but as Murray said, was most famous for his involvement with Joy Division/New Order and the Happy Mondays as well as the Hacienda club in Manchester! I visited the Hacienda a few times myself but found it to be a little too out of control for my liking! (I wasn't one of the drug culture guys that were frequenting it in the late 80's early 90's)
