FSX Fleet

EHM-1703 Philip:
Ben,

Sorry, but we are limited to what is being supplied by Freeware developers for FSX at the moment it is not something we can just bolt on or add to the aircraft ourselves. There are very few Airliners that are complete with Virtual Cockpits for FSX yet.

I don't understand why FSX is is "essentially unflyable" with a 2D panel? Using the 3D Virtual cockpits have a massive hit on frame rates on FSX. To prove this, press [SHIFT] [Z] to bring up the FPS data and try the default 737-800 with the virtual cockpit, then switch to 2d view. I get on average 7-8 FPS better performance with the 2d panel. Also, please remember that the default aircraft use very basic cockpits also, once you start adding 3rd party features and guages, these frame rates will slow even more.

EHM-1671 Ben:
Hi Phil,

Ooops - my mistake! I didn't know that there was a 2D view (when I cycle through the views there is only a virtual cockpit, no 2D) and when there was no virtual cockpit in the EHM planes, I couldn't find a panel so to me it was unflyable. I'll have another try with the aircraft now ;)

EHM-1703 Philip:
Ahhhh I see, let me know if you have any troubles as we are all still learning with FSX! :)

EHM-1001 Robert:
For first try I could not find it either...then accidentally pressed the right mouse button, and wee...a popup menu appeared, where I could select the 2D panel.

As many keys remained the same with FS2004, I expected other things to work too the same way. But they just do not :P

EHM-1671 Ben:
Well, sure enough, tried both the A320 and the 767 again last night. Both had great 2D panels... looking forward to flying some more with them ;)

A question about the A320's flight dynamics: when I pull the stick back to rotate on takeoff, it 'noses up' well but all of a sudden it will thrust its nose in the air, and I have to push the stick forward to keep it from pitching too high. After a few seconds of holding the nose down to maintain 10 degrees, the plane will begin to dive and I have to pull the stick up to keep the plane from crashing into the ground. It fluctuates like this until I switch on the autopilot... anyone experienced this before?
