ProPilot version 3
By Bruno Falcão / EHM0948
NOTE - Propilot has been updated to version 4 and substantially overhauled. Please see the version 4 thread for updated information
ProPilot is a system that simulates, as realistically as possible, real airline flight operations. In real life, pilots can't make flight to wherever they want, because aircraft are located at specific airports. This means that pilots can only make flights from airports that have aircraft located there. And that's the main idea of ProPilot! After you make your flight, the aircraft is parked at that airport and someone else (or yourself) is able to make a new flight from that airport.
However, we did not stop there!
Before you make a flight you visit the EuroHarmony website and lock the flight you want to make. This procedure includes: choosing the aircraft, the possible flights, etc. If you don't make the flight within 48 hours after you locked it, the flight is unlocked again making it available to other pilots.
ProPilot contains the following features :
* Automatic crash detection: If you crash the aircraft, the system will know and de-activate that aircraft.
* Failure algorithms: When you make a flight, there will be a probability of failure on your aircraft. This is calculated based on complex algorithms like the total airplane miles and/or since the time that passed since last maintenance.
* Penalties : The system will know when you do some incorrect procedures, like starting the engines with doors open or start taxiing without the navigation lights on. At the end of your flight, you will receive a flight score.
* Flight Analysis: After you ended a flight, you can view the flight analysis. Basically it will show you graphs for climbing, cruising and descending procedures that you made; along with some information like fuel spent and flight time, but also the penalties and failures list that occurred during your flight.
* Fleet State: Basically we now have aircraft with tail-ids. We will have, for example: 10 Boeing's 737-800, and 15 Beech's 1900D; all with different tail-id's. All of these aircraft will have a state: maintenance, crashed, or operational. The system will then calculate a reliability value based on flown history information and apply the respective failures (or not) on the aircraft.
* More than 200 aircraft to fly! : Many aircraft are spread across Europe! Board your aircraft and take it somewhere else on a flight.
* Passengers waiting procedure: Every flight will have passengers waiting. Every night, a passenger's engine will add or subtract passengers from that queue based on many factors, like since the last time someone made a certain flight or "is this flight a weekend flight ?", so expect passengers flow every day.
* All of this was made for you to have fun and everyone's invited! This new branch is made for ALL pilots, from the basic and wants-to-improve pilots, to the more professional ones. ProPilot will not replace our current operations, but it would be a huge miss if you don't try it!
ProPilot is always under development in order to give you the best Flight Simulator experience that is possible. We appreciate the opinion of our (future) pilots and invite them to visit our forums and come up with comments and suggestions.
