Tropical Traders PP Event begins on the 21st!

EHM-1465 Dominic:

The Tropical Traders ProPilot Event begins in Singapore on 21st December!

It's a 6500nm jaunt in 22 legs across Southeast Asia in the wonderful DC-3 - sign up via the banner on the front page and post any questions you may have here ;)

(A couple of legs are missing from this route map as they didn't appear in the GCMap database)

EHM-2387 Eric-Jan:
Signed up!  ;D

Seems the GCD column in the legs table is a bit off for the less known airports; something to correct in the a/p database? (and aliasing?)
I'm sure it will be fixed before Event starts ;)

Looking forward to proppig through the tropics!  ;D ;D

EHM-1417 Tamas:
Hmmm, sir!

All routes wrong distance displayed. 7,936 nm, 0 nm, etc.

Excample:
5   WADD Bali Intl   WATO   274 deg   7,936 nm

And calculated the routefinder:
Computed route from BALI /NGURAH RAI (WADD, WA) to MUTIARA II (WATO, WA): 5 fixes, 281.7 nautical miles

What is problem?

EHM-2387 Eric-Jan:
"unknown" or not-recognised ICAOs get calculated as if they were on 0 degrees longitude, 0 degrees latitude (somewhere off the West coast of Africa, on the Equator, of course). So, WSSS may be known, the distance to any unknown ICAO, from WSSS, will result in just about 8000 nm GCD.

And "unknown" means here that the airport is not yet in the (timetable) database, so there's no GPS location known (yet). Not all 35.000 ICAO codes in the world are in there, 'cause otherwise the timetable database would become too large to handle comfortably.

A little medling with that database will fix the problem, and I'm quite sure someone of the MT will do his utmost to get the database up-to-date before the Event actually starts.

(this is one of the side-effects of creating an event that visits some very small airfields, which makes this event one of my personal favourites ;))

EHM-1465 Dominic:
Basically the distances shown are auto-generated by the Event page script, not input by us, so as E-J says they are reliant on correct information being in the database.

It will be corrected once Alexander sees the issue so don't get too hung up on it please ;)
