Dear pilots,
This thread is to give you the (already known) rules for this new event.
This event is called "Orient Express adventure".
You can register on it, by sending an email directly to me (bruno "at" fly-euroharmony.com) with the subject Orient Express registration, where you should give me your Pilot Name and Pilot ID.
You can see the Event on the "Pilots" -> "Events" section. It's already announced there.
The airplane is the Junkers 52. It will be released soon.
Feel free to post your doubts here!
Let's get moving and sign in pilots!
-
I'm looking forward to it! ;)
-
Sign me up Bruno.
EDIT: And just in case, I've emailed the sign up request as well... Now to get some practice with the Ju-52 (Muwahahahaha! Staff powers!) ;D
For those with a 6-lever throttle quad (GoFlight one in my case) you should configure it for three throttles and three mixtures...
-
I will have a go at this one.
After testing the Junkers, I can tell you all that it is a fantastic aircraft to fly, this will be a very enjoyable event!
-
sign me up!;D
-
yay! i was right about the aircraft ;D
I'll sign up for this too, expect my email soon ;)
-
That's very nice! I've never flown such an old prop airplane, but I'm definetly joining in! ;)
-
Good Sound sir. Hope finalizing Formula one event (paralel operation), and pls sign in me.
-
Hi,
Thank you for your words. But, even if you say here that you want to be on the event you need to send me an email. I control the airplanes via the emails and not via the posts on the forum :)
The airplane will be released very soon, so you can have some time to train with it.
Regards,
EDIT: So long we already have 14 pilots ;)
-
The Junkers-52 is now officially ready ! You can reach her either from the Fleet page Museum area, or from this event's page ;)
Try her, fly her, experience her :P
-
It's fantastic Robert, thanks very much! It will be a pleasure to fly it across Europe... ;)
-
Very nice plane, but I just have one question...is there an AP on this plane? I haven't seen it and I'm quite scared about flying for hours with my hand on the joystick :%

Yes, I have the same question. Also on average, how long are the flights?
-
Matt,
as the Ju-52 has a typical speed of about 120kts the leg lengths vary.
The shortest is the first with just 94nm and the longest is 384nm.
Leg lengths then should vary between 1hr and 3:30hrs.
-
Welcome to the golden ages of flying ;D
-
Sorry gentlemen, there is no AP and should not be. I would dare to even question the GPS aboard.
If I understand correctly, this event pretends that we do today what those great aviators did 50 years ago. No AP, no GPS and to be honest I think that no VOR either. Just pure and simple NDB (when available) and dead reckoning flying like they did which brings a few question here:
1.- Are we going to fly under VFR rules like they did?
2.- When filing the flight plan, is it going to be a straight line with no airways to follow like they did?
3.- Is Propilot ready to accept that this plane has no beacon, strobe and a fixed gear that will be down above 1600 metres (5000´)?
Other than that, I flew the plane for the first time last night and it is a beautiful bird.
Excellent job and beautiful livery, Robert. Congratulations.
Hector
P.S Would EHM management consider adding a jewel of the past to the fleet and even organise an event with her? I am talking about the Lockheed L1049 Constellation.
-
I wasn't complaining about there being no AP onboard, I was just more concerned how long I'd have to be manually flying in case I have to do some other things.
I agree with Hector in this case, but I have another question, Are we trying to pretend we are at that time flying, or are we still in the present flying an old plane? I ask because if it's the second one, I think it would be fair to use VOR's.
-
I think you put as much realism and feeling into this event as much you want. If you remember, the Airmail tour was guided with VFR charts and VFR flight plans, although it was your choice how you do the tour ;)
For me it will be a simple retro event: old-timer plane on an old-timer route, with modern navigational aids. No, I will not use GPS, but why not use VORs, and charts.
And yes. Conny is planned to added...I thought we will start with a Conny event instead, but I hope you do not need to wait too much. Plans already laid down for that too ;)
-
Agree 100%. I didn't see from that viewpoint. It is fair to say that you should use whatever makes you feel good.
Thanks for the info on the Connie. I have the one from FZDesigns, which I think is the only one available for free and with so many real features.
Still concerned about ProPilot, thoug.
Hector
-
Hi all
I´ m planning to join that event, too.
But before joining I have some questins like:
whats happening, after a possible crash or anythink like that.
Is there a file or a forum thread where I can read all about that?
Kind regards
Manuel
-
Hello Manuel,
as this is a Pro-pilot event it has the same rules as PP flights.
So, if there's a crash what follows is a suspension for a period of time and the particular airplane being struck off from the list of active planes.
In most other PP events there was no provision for auxiliary planes to replace any crashed ones. (Not even in the F1 Event :'( ).
So unless there's a drastic change somewhere most probably you have to do the within the time limits and without crashing.
-
Hello Sotiris
Thank you very much for the help.
I think, i will join.
Edit: @ Robert: Great work on the JU 52!!!!!
-
Hi!
Will the plane also be released for FSX? Or is there another that could be used?
Thanks
-
Hi Marko......
I'm working on an answer to this question... I may be able to convert it although knowing how skitty this model can be I doubt it will port to FSX, we may have to invent a work around for it! Anyway, give me a day or two to have a play!
-
OK Good news Marko,
It looks like the JU52 will be available for FSX. Give us a while to check and test it then Robert will add it to the Museum download page and make an announcement.
Cheers,
-
Yeah!!! Now I am very happy ;D
Thanks!
-
How did it go with the FSX version?
Thanks!
Marko
-
Well the version is ready, we just need Robert to get it uploaded but he is a bit busy. in the meantime, please try downloading it from here:
FSX JU 52 Link (http://www.fly-euroharmony.com/~aircraft/museum/ehv.ju52.fsx.exe)
Please let me know if you encounter any problems with it.
-
Fleet Download page was updated also. Happy flying ;)
-
Hi mates,
I had reserved one airplane for each email that I received.
Unfortunately I am having problems to send emails, so please check if you have a Junkers reserved.
Thanks and good luck for all of you!
-
I got mine already: D-EHOO
Filling the thanks and ready to go.
Hector
-
Fantastic - we're all ready to go. Looking forward to getting started this weekend ;)
-
My plane D-EHOC is inspected and ready to go;D
Good luck to you all
-
My Junkers is ready to take off, I've already installed the stereo and a subwoofer on it :8
-
Yes, my plane is there too!
Just wondering, why are they at EGLL if the first leg is EGKK-LFAC?
-
My D-EHOM is also ready to go!!!
-
I hope you all put me through my paces tomorrow with a mass arrival at Calais.
See you soon :]
-
Mine is already loading up as well! Hope to see you all in the skies!
-
Well, flew the first leg for practice (and to make sure the checklist works... it does), and I've never flown anything that feels *so* slow on landing... it was like I could have got out and walked faster!
Oh, and for those concerned it doesn't have an AP, it does! It's a very simple Sperry unit (just like the DC in fact) but it'll hold a heading and altitude quite happily. :)
-
yeah, i did a test flight around calais to test the aircraft some more and check out the scenery :D
and it shure does feel sloow haha :]
-

Hehe, I noticed the exacty same thing...I go faster on my moped :]
More important, where can I find the AP? :%
Thanks
-
D-EHOR is ready and waiting!
Too bad I´m on nightshift at present, I would have had started directly after midnight, if I had time
-
Hmm.. all the planes are parked att EGKK... How do we proceed to fly a propilot flight from there?
Btw, the plane looks nice and feels nice in FSX! Thanks for the great work!!
-
They were all at EGLL Marko, but following a little confusion and some very hasty shipping (;)) all the Tante Ju's are waiting at Gatwick for their pilots. Best of luck to everyone participating in the event, and I'll see those of you who are taking part in the first leg fly-in at 17:30Z (ish)
(And baggsy parking 138 (or some such - it's the first Parking GA Medium) at Gatwick for the fly-in...)
-
Thanks!
But some more questions since this is my first participation in an event at Euroharmony.
Should I lock a flight under "Propilot" just as any other propilot flight?
Because when I click on my plane, I cannot see any possible flights...
-
Marko, have you remembered to click on the update button? If not try that first.
-
i can't lock the flight in the propilot section either, it doesn't show any possible flights.. are we too early so that it'll show up later in the day, or is there something wrong here? :P don't want to miss the whole thing, not that's any panic yet, but still ;D
-
Yes I have.
I didn't mean in the EHMFLogger, i meant in the webbrowser under divisions/propilot/lock flight.
-
Daniel/Marko (and everyone else for that matter) - I'm aware of the problem and have left messages for those that understand these things better than I, just waiting for someone to let me know how to fix it :)
-
ah okey murray, just nice to know that you are aware of it, no problems ;D
-
Okay! Thanks Murray!
-
The flight finally appeared on the PP "Lock Flight" screen.
Do not forget to press the UPDATE button in FlightLogger to get the latest database. E042 flight will show up at the bottom of the list when only "Event flights" are selected.
Be prepared, and lets meet up there ;)
-
Weirdest thing happened while I was doing the flight. I changed frequency to Calais Tower, and my FS just shut down!:o
Looks like I'll have to do it tomorrow :(
-
Give a shout here Matt and I'll join you in sommat small and SE if I can.
-
Hi mates,
Me, in behalf of the MT team, just wanna tell you good luck to all of you guys!
See you all at Turkey ;)

Thanks for the reminder Luis, I wanted to let our FLogger dev team know about that error on IVAO PIREP submission.

Well, I have really enjoyed the flight, but I am quite scared about flying the Junkers again! :D The hdg maintainer doesn't work for me, it is quite hard to level it and I spent the whole time with my hand on the joystick trying to fly it properly.
I got 1150 Penalty points (I opened a door while I was flying :] I went overspeed :o I overpassed 4500fpm (don't ask me how and when because I don't know how it happened) ;D and I overpassed the 2,5Gs somehow...

Re-did the flight today. Winds were still as fierce as last night:]
Maybe you got the G thing because of the winds? We don't notice because we fly the big stuff. Becomes more noticable when you fly a tin bucket;D
-
Paolo, this may help for future flights:
1. Heading: get your heading manually, then with the upper right knob set that heading and check that both cards, upper (heading setting) and lower (actual heading) in the window read the same. If you turn the AP with a big difference in headings it will turn very sharply and you will lose altitude very fast.
2. Altitude: there is a fact here: when you turn the AP on, it will maintain the last vertical speed the aircraft was at that moment and, as mentioned above, will also turn to the heading setting. These are two movements the AP will perform at the same time which may cause the aircraft to lose control very easily.
So, first get the heading manually and trim the vertical speed you want (rem no more than 3 fps). After those two parameters are constant, then turn the AP on. You will have to turn it off and on sometimes to correct the altitude. Small heading changes can be done with the uppermost right knob too.
As per the speed, it also can go high very fast. I am not 100% sure and someone could clarify this, but I think that the propellers are fixed pitch because the RPMs react to manifold pressure settings. Besides that, they react slow to the changes so you don't see the setting right there but have to wait a little bit before making more changes to avoid oversettings.
It is a very nice plane of course nothing close to modern aircrafts so one just has to admire those pilots and their magnificent flying machines.
Hope this can help.
Cheers,
Hector
-
Just made the first flight and I gotta say that is a slow plane on landings!! But I love it and it's really fun to fly! :]
Can't wait for the second leg! :8
And many thanks to Hector for the explanation on how to use the autopilot.. I wasn't managing it very well before..
-
It was a challenging flight. After I could not use the altitude hold feature of AP, I switched to manual flying.
The propellers have fixed BETA. You can adjust together the thrust with mixture to control proper airspeed and fuel useage. This is also important to not eat all the gas onboard before landing :P
-
And don't leave the engines running at full power for more than a minute or two, you'll burn out the pistons! The HTML checklist for this airplane is really detailed and gives loads of operational things... I suspect this is how Herr Dr. Hoyle managed to fly the flight in under a half hour but burnt fuel up the wazzoo!
-
Hi
Hector sayed it all, but if you want more information,
try this link to read about sperry AP......this is for the Dc3, but the sperry AP is similar to the Ju52.
http://www.dc3airways.com/train_top_2004.html
And always remember, it is a plane with a cruise speed about 130mph,...be patient,..don't overheat the engines and take some care on this old lady...(Tante Ju).......lol.....
Practice to trim the aircraft correctly(pitch and throttle) and 'll see the sperry AP working like a charm on altitude and attitude.
About the turbulence and G forces, in my opinion the cause is the weather updates (Winds updates) and I only have success to avoid this with a rigestered fsuipc version.
I have a different problem.....sometimes the engines don't start( Murray mencioned this before in another forum - JU52 help- if i remember it well) and sometimes when the engines starts, I don't have the sperry AP neither the radios working....and when this happens I have to do all the flight by hand (always with the hand on the joystick).... but I think this is some problem in my software installation, because another times everything works all right
Cheers
-
Re: starting the engines, follow the checklist to the line and they'll fire right up. One word of warning though, a number of the controls in the virtual cockpit don't work! The fuel valves (yellow and red handles on the throttle quad) are amongst the ones that don't function in the VCockpit, but without them being Aus, you're not going anywhere ;)
Another thing to mention is that the Ju's Sperry is an older model than that we had in the DC3 (for the American Pioneers event), but it does work if you're patient with it.
Finally, don't forget to mix lean during climb to conserve fuel. The engines on the Ju happily run very lean at the sorts of altitudes you'll be flying most of this event at; less burn means less fuel needed, which means less weight/more distance.
-
Thx Hector for your explanation! Unfortunately at the present time I don't have too much time to practice, but I hope I'll be able to manage that sperry AP soon.
Sure is that I'm going to fly the next leg offline and trying to avoid opened doors :]
Hopefully I'll be able to finish the flight without penalties ;)
Thanks again,
Paolo
-
I feel lucky for the Ju52 having the Sperry since I sort of know it well. I have been using it since May when I started the around the world flight in a Lockheed L10E Electra similar to the one Amelia Earhart flew in her attempt in 1937. At the beginning it was hard but after you become familiar with the plane it is much easier. Still the one installed in the Electra does´n keep the altitude so I have to keep an eye on it for the entire flight which sometimes is over 9 hours being the hardest one the last from Honolulu to Oakland with 16.
Actually I am stuck at Diego Garcia Islands waiting for the F1 Tour finishes.
The Sperry version in the Ju52 does maintain both heading and altitude as explained above but the aircraft must be fairly trimmed at both pitch and yaw axes. This first flight was very short for us to really fly the aircraft up to her fulliest extent. Let´s wait for the longer ones so we can appreciate the real fun of flying.
Just for the real thing I will always fly VFR direct. No airways, no intersections, no SIDs, no STARS, no ILS, no DME and altitudes not over 5000 wherever it is safe.
See you guys in the air!
BTW, I was supposed to be using a DC-2 in the MTL but as per Murray it was a C172. I saw everyone at Gatwick and Calais as DC-3 or C-47. Would appreciate some hint here.
Hector
-
I chose DC-3 because it's of a similar size/shape (and it's in the MTL :))
-
Ah yes, well spotted Murray !! I must also confess i had to accelerate time a bit (did it off line) as the wife was getting a bit annoyed as she had just finished cooking tea when i took off!
Good to be back in the air though and love these old school planes - much more stimulating then the autopilot/FMCs we all get so used to.
Bring on the next leg....
Jim
-
Just made my second leg all the way to Paris and made a quick video with a simple edit of the landing.. Hope you enjoy the video as much as I am enjoying this event!

Hi
Leg02 - another leg - another ivao adventure....eheheheh
I was doing this leg on IVAO as always.....taxi at LFAC....
'you must contact LFQQ_APP'...'rgr, Old Tante Ju on a VFR flight from LFAC to LFPO, with you. Stop on the taxiway and ..wait...wait... 'old Tante Ju!!?'.......eheheh ......'Junkers52
on a VFR flight from LFAC to LFPO, with you'..and...wait...wait....
On IVAE i saw LFFF_CTR was on......and contacted LFFF_CTR...answer ' you must contact LFQQ_APP'......ehehehe
15 minutes later i received clearence to the vfr flight...with taxiways indications, h/points and everything by the book...Controlled on a APP on another airfield, outside from his radar range.
And I was Thinking that on a vfr flight, I only have to send my flight plan, but i was wrong.
Here we go.......hdg 190, at4500ft.....?Please contact LFFF_CTR..' junkers52 on a vfr flight to LFPO, hdg 190 @ 4500ft, with you'......'ok, Sir, continued as filed'.........
Minutes later 'Please contact LFPG_APP, bye'.........
I contacted LFPG_APP and now started the true adventure....eheheheh
'VFR flights are forbidden on Paris, are you able to do a 360º turn?'...eheheh...'yes Sir, i'm abble to do a 360º...do you want it now or later?'.......eheheheh...'Now'.......I disengagged the awsame sperry AP..and start the turn.....maintaining the flight level........When i was almost at hdg 270...the LFPG_APP told me.....'Come back to hdg 180 and change your flight plan to IFR, Climb and maintain FL070
What category are your aircraft?'........Maybe a UFO, I thought, but I answered '3 engines piston aircraft, category medium'........eheheheh
eheheh..Come on Tante Ju....be patient........ehehehe
'No so much trafic at the moment so you follow my vectors to LFPO'..said LFPG_APP......After doing circles around ,flying by hand and writing on the ivao textbox......I was almost without fuel......hmmmm....Solution.....I disconnected from ivao and finished this leg offline.
This was a very challenging leg around Orly and I'm impatiently waiting for the next leg.
Cheers

Your post is madness:]
I heard all that on IVAO aswell! I was going to fly IVAO tonight, but I wanted to listen to the controller first (in case I have a weird guy) and then all that mess started. When you contacted LFPG_APP I didn't change because I thought that would be the end of the fun. Now I wish I stayed!:]
-
well, you're all enjoying the second leg, whilest i'm just happy that i've made it to calais in time! 4th time i did the flight the computer held up until the prierp was sent! first time i even landed at calais and shut down nicely, and then boom, everything stopped working :s but well, Now i'm at Calais, and have had some unexpected practice with the tante ju ;D next leg tomorow maybe ;D
-
Haha, I expected descend just over CDG, but that was a bit late. I had to do a circle. Anyway, it was very interesting to see a so big and crowded airport on duty from 13000 ft ;)
-
Pers'n'ly, I flew the second leg yesterday morning and found the ATC to be most excellent (apart from the dodgy Frenglish from CTR and CDG_APP failing to realise I was flying at 9000ft not once but twice - "EHM0654, descend maintain FL110" "sir, I'm at FL90, 9000ft, still...")
I'm glad to be south of Paris, it'll make the rest of the event nice and easy (hopefully...)
-
Hi...here we go again....
My scenery to LFPO don't have rwy24 (fs2004 default) so I inform that and ask if it is possible to take off on rwy25 in my scenery.
Answer from LPFO_TWR - 'Your FP is not correct'
I open my FP and didn't see anything wrong and ask for help from the controller.......And the answer come at once 'Go read the IVAO documentation'....Thank you for your help.
(http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/233/lfpolfst01ir3.th.jpg) (http://img509.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lfpolfst01ir3.jpg)

I need some help from the ATC experts here on EHM to clarify this.
Where is my FP wrong?......Maybe I don't have the sids fixes?
And if it this the reason...was it so hard to inform me?
Is it not a presumption that the controller is there to guide and help the pilot?....Or the controller is there to fight against the pilot?
Please help me with my flight plan.......I have almost 2000 hours on IVAO.....maybe at this moment I'm blind or stupid, because I don't see that big mistake on my FP that justify that 'nice' answer from the controller.
For now, for me, fly on Ivao over France is out off question
Thanks
-
Usually the controllers are very picky when it comes to the total EET and stuff like that, but I would've cleared that flightplan (everyone probably thinks I'm the worst controller now!)
I don't understand why he said read the documents even if there is a mistake in there, I mean that FP is detailed enough and there's no serious problems with it.
Don't blame the controller too much. I mean, we could get this from any division. I've had a few controllers tell me off when I know I'm correct. One made a major mistake of getting the even and odds mixed up with East and West (that was at Schipol which usually the service is excellent)
What I'm saying is don't judge the entire IVAO french division because one controller made a bad mistake (just for the record;D what rating was he?)
-
Hi Matt
The Controller is a C1, as you can see on the last screenshot.
If he was a S1,S2 or even a S3...no problem.......but a C1, must be more responsible and with that kind of answer, I can be always making the same mistake over and over again....until I finds him again.
I think it was more usefull if he says 'correct your ETA' or put a remark like 'RMK Captain' or ' you don't have a sid fix' or wathever....
I think the answer for this are 2 single words I have in the FP Remarks... ' Only text'............ehehehehehe
Just for the record.....some years ago I was on Marseille to start a flight...I asked 5 times for clearence.....no answer from the controller...no traffic on the area.
After waiting about 20 minutes, I decide to start engines and taxi to the rwy h/p, arriving there...come the answer from the controller....'who gave you clearence to start the flight?'......:o
'But i asked for it 5 times...'....'go back to the blocks where you were before taxi'...he says.
When I arrived on the blocks he asked me..'Are you on voice?'...'negative, on the moment I only can communicate by text'...I answered......
After some minutes arguing about text, voice and ivao rules and documentation he finally said to me ' I don't refuse to controll by text, but I have no interest on it, so you are cleared as filed' :%
Now this Monsieur is a ivao supervisor........!!!
When I see words like Elitism, Ivao, Vatsim, friendship and there is always someone to help you....blah...blah...I stop a little to think about some storys that had happened with me on ivao network.
On the other hand I made some friendships too, on the ivao network.
Cheers

Hi Luis,
First, I agree with you that this is not the kins of help one should expect from an ATC - no matter his rank.
I think however that I know what has upset this guy so much: your route looks like a VFR route (and definitely not like a correct IFR route) while the flight rules are marked "IFR".
As TWR & APP myself, in this case I would of course assume the pilot has forgot to change the flight rules, while (I guess) your TWR preferred to assume you have a badly built route. Maybe he did not notice your aircraft type either :)
And of course, whatever he found wrong in your FP, he should point it out inthe first place.
I admit text comm can be very frustrating for ATC, especially in hight traffic; sometimes this can lead to somewhat lower priority in comm, but there is no reason for not being polite and cooperative.
When dealing with "text only" I try indeed to reduce comm amount to the minimum, but when dealing with small FP problems this means being more tolerant, not giving riddles to pilots (which may prove I am a worse ATC than you Matt :) ).
About the ATC mistake Matt encountered at Schipol, I would say this is not what matters. We all make mistakes (I do, anyway, both as ATC and pilot) and I think we should "friendly" correct one another - and accept being corrected. What is definitely bad (and sad) is running into someone eager to demonstrate you are dumber than he is.
Once I had a pilot with a FP route obviously wrong (in real world, according to the charts, he was to exit TMA from a fix that is entry-only). I offered him help to corrrect but he replied he thinks the route is OK as it came from one of the major route databases. I did not believe him, but rather then argue I let him fly according to his plan. The day after I discovered he was wright, the route database provides indeed an incorrect route.
[Edit] This is a typo, I meant he was "right" not one of the Wright brothers. I am not THAT old (and I challenge anyone to pretend he provided ATC service for the Wrights).
And I cannot end without more bad news. You think you had problems with this guy because he had a too high rank, but be assured beginners can be as dangerous (it takes experience to understand you may be wrong yourself, not only all the others).
Cheers

Routing is very wide for such a long distance as Andrei says, a few more radio navigation points wouldn't overly hurt (I tend to use a RouteFinder routing since you're unlikely to ever get to in trouble for that...)
Your equipment list is missing a "W"
And lastly, your endurance is a little close to your duration for comfort.
:)
-
I agree to both, my route is very wide and i don't have a sid fix....
Has I said before my LFPO scenery(fs2004 default) don't have rwy24 and this is the rwy for take off in the initial controller information, maybe if I put a fix, must be there another...so I removed the fix out of the route.......
I tried to find a scenery on avsim.....no chance......I tried in ivao french division...yes, but the links for the scnery are dead.
To change 'I' with 'V'...some days ago(second leg on the event)..a LFPG_APP said to me that VFR flights are forbidden in Paris area.......yesterday I saw on IVAE an announce of a VFR event in Le Bourget......(Is Le Bourget out of Paris area?)
So many details.......
About the 'W' in the equipment......
The 'W' means - RVSM(FL290-FL410) ...I think this must be there if you intend to fly above FL290. In this case my flight level is 7000ft.
About EET and Endurance......
This is a flight for about 2 hours...I estimated it (EET) for 3 hours (0300) and the Endurance I have there (0350)..more 50 minutes then the EET.
Finally I think that this ugly flight plan was useful for something......

Help...... my plane is at LFPO and i can't lock the next leg ??? The tail number is D-EHOX, when i click on it in pro-pilot page there are no flights to pick, please help asap or i will not get time to fly this leg.
Ta, Jim

Hello Jim.
I have the same problem and asked via direct e-mail Phil for some help. Have no explanation of what is happening.
See you on the skies.
Peter

Error in the database, I've hopefully fixed this now (please check, all affected pilots)

Murray have you ever heard of a JU52 that is certified for flying in RVSM airpace? ;)
-
hmm... :% you're not supposed to be able to lock the next leg until the 27th right? :P i'm able to lock it now, but will unlock it again so i don't mess things up ;D because the legs aren't supposed to be able to lock before you shall fly them right? :P just wanted to let our great working MT know ;)
-
Murray, can now lock the flight, but........
when i click Pro-pilot in flight logger it comes up with the previous leg??
I have reset and updated flight logger and even unlocked and then locked the flight again on the web page but still flight logger comes up with the previous leg.
Help again please ? :]
-
Jim and everyone, As you guys probably know, I am green when it comes to the back end stuff so i will leave it to the experts. This error will get sorted and we will stretch the date of the legs for anyone who can not make it due to this error, stay tuned we will update ASAP.
Cheers,
Phil
-
Thanks Phil. We have to take such side effects as a part of the event, and start thinking positively, like: Wow, some more fun....;D
Peter
-
It is strange cos I have just completed it without a problem!!!! Must be something to do with the tail numbers or something!
-
Politely put, balls up in the database (no names, no pack drill...)
*DO NOT* lock E045, it's dates are completely wrong at present.
UPDATE: Wee... thank goodness for command history. OK, all dates corrected; E044 should be lockable right now, E045 goes live tomorrow (and all subsequent legs are "bumped" correctly). I'm at work so cannot investigate FLogger issues, but remember to update the timetable or you'll not get the corrected start/end dates.
FURTHER UPDATE: And FYI all of you currently at LFPO, we're extending the closing date for E044 by two days to 2007-09-29 because of all the troubles. Again, remember to update your FLogger timetable to get the new dates...

Well... a number of IVAO division's position is that since IvAp has a TCAS, all aircraft are RVSM certified (was a CA staffer told me that).
BUT, real-world, no, not unless you got all the additional equipment fitted to get it certified
-
This is weird... i have LFPO - LPST locked in pro-pilot but when i run flight logger now it says i have no flight locked - what is happening??
Could some one unlock my flight for me so i can re-lock it....
Tail ID = D-EHOX
Cheers.
-
Jim, that flight (E045) isn't live/lockable until tomorrow officially speaking... It was only due to the error earlier that you had the opportunity to lock this flight at all (did you not read my "do not lock this flight" above...? ;D).
To be honest, as long as the "timeout" is late tomorrow/day after, don't worry about it and fly when it's live...
[strike](Truth is, we're suffering a few back-end niggles at the moment and I don't want to have to figure out how to manually unlock a locked flight)[/strike] ;)
-
Murray, the flight i am talking about is E044 ..... lol
-
Hi,
The E044 already passed the deadline mate ... 17 pilots made it.
Did you made the flight Jim?
-
I don't think he did Bruno, I think a few people missed out due to these problems. Can we extend the leg?
-
Sure, it makes sense since it was a technical problem.
The leg E044 was extended until 30-09-2007.
If you have any problems, please send me an email. I normally filter the problems via email before coming here.
Regards,
-
Jim,
Ah, seems I mis-read your message (for which apologies). I had already extended that leg to today in fact
FURTHER UPDATE: And FYI all of you currently at LFPO, we're extending the closing date for E044 by two days to 2007-09-29 because of all the troubles. Again, remember to update your FLogger timetable to get the new dates...
So you should still be good to go on. If you still need it forcibly unlocked *shout now* or forever hold your peace...
-
Made the leg - many thanks for all the help.
Jim

Help again - this is getting weird.
I have set up to fly E045 tonight to get in before the dead-line. I locked the flight in pro-pilot this afternoon.
I have just run flight logger, pressed pro-pilot, and it comes up with E044 ??
I have checked website and i definatelt have E045 locked but my flight logger says it is E044 - which i have flown by the way and successfully submitted PIREP.
The website must besending my flight logger old info ??
Please help.....
Jim
-
The flogger is saying you have E044 locked? Can you go into lots of detail please Jim?
More is better, feel free to email it to me rather than post here if it'll let you write more.
-
Murray - utter arse!!
Despite complete unistall of entire flight logger and then re-install and update it still produces E044 when i press the propilot button.
I have relocked the flight E045 via this website, re-run and re-updated flight logger and it still gives me E044 !!
I dont understand cos before this event i never had a single problem with FLogger or Propilot??
The mystery continues......
-
Bruno is aware of it Jim, don't worry it will be sorted out!
-
Jim,
I think it's fair to say you've managed to stump an entire support team with this.
Bruno is of the opinion that this was likely being caused by you having two reserved aircraft. He's corrected this and asks that you try again (again...) Do let us know one way or the other.
-
Cheers all....at work today but will try this evening when i get home.
Fingers crossed....:%
-
Success !!
FLogger now shows E045....now just have to fly it.
Thanks all, will let you know if any future problems...
Jim
-
Yay, thanks Bruno for figuring it all out.
Now hurry up and catch up Jim! ;)
(I'm flying E046 offline at this moment, just in case I was needed by you or the gentleman I'm sort of expecting a phone call off about helping him with his server...)
-
Hi,
I noticed some of you guys made it to Budapest so the next leg is coming "my way".
If anyone wishes to fly the LROP legs online and can hint me about a date and time, I will be happy to provide you ATC and welcome you upon arrival in Bucharest (and, of course, to make sure you don't stay here but fly away in the next leg :) )
Cheers

Hi all,
Today I wanted to start leg E049.
However the leg is not completed in flight logger,so I get a run time error when I try to book the flight.(I updated flight logger today)
And LBWM does not excist,in my opinion this must be LBWN.
Please help.
Cheers,
Jaap
-
Hi
I started trying to lock leg E049 about 09.00(Zulu) and now 19:11(Zulu) no success so far.
Maybe something is not all right.........:%
Cheers
-
Hi folks. It seems Varna was in the database LBWM and not LBWN as should be.
Plz try to lock the flight now, and then do not forget to update the Logger ;)
-
Thanks Robert
-
Everything all right now. I locked and did the flight without problems.
Thanks Robert.
Cheers

I have a request for the event management team (which I realise I'm a member of... ;))
Yesterday my gaming install of XP ate it's own face and the partition it's on stopped being NTFS - and this when I was trying to use my work install of XP to get to grips with the FLogger project. Suffice to say, I spent last night getting the gaming install working enough (finally took a quick format and re-install of XP...) to get my work install working again - which I did, but I couldn't do any work on the FLogger project, which means I won't be in a position to do any flying until the weekend now (I've got to re-install FS/IVAO/Aircraft/Controls/etc before I can take to the air again) so I basically need to request an extension on the final two legs if they haven't already been bumped out into next week already.
-
I don't know if someone's had this before, but when I click on the next leg (LROP-LBWN) this error message comes up:
Run-time error "3021":
Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record
-
Hi Matt
I had the 'Run-time error "3021" ' when i updated from v3.0.8 to v3.0.9.
I don't have MsOffice nor internet explorer installed.
I uninstalled the FLogger and installed it again, no success, the 'Run-time error "3021" ' appears again.
To bypass this i did as follow :
-Uninstall FLogger.
-Clean the folder where the Flogger was installed (Clean the Pireps logs, Acars Logs files...etc..)
-Clean the registry with System Mechanic
-Install the Flogger v3.0.9 and no problems
I hope this make sense and help you.
Cheers
PS: I just lock this leg and try it on PP without problems.

Hi all! i'm on my way to join Trevor, Jaap, Peter, Hector and Luis at Atatürk now, if nothing unexpected will occur i'll be taxiing my tante ju to the gate in about 20minutes!
it's been very fun to be flying such an historical aircraft and getting to know it!
and let's hope that we'll see Miguel, Javier and Philip safe and sound at Istanbul tomorrow! ;D
-
I will be there, I am flying full speed back from Brazil where I just left my 744F, I will be joining you guys in instanbul as soon as my travel mode is lifted! :)
-
Just landed at Atatürk finishing my first ProPilot event! :>
Hope the rest of the remaining pilots while make it in time and safely.
Gotta say I loved the event, the Junkers is a (very) slow plane but lovely to fly around.
I'm ansiously waiting for the next event!! ;D
-
im about to go fly it soon, didnt realise the deadline was today :]
