Title: Evening Flights?
Post by: EHM-1464 Andrew on August 01, 2004, 01:52:02 am
I think it would be good if we could organise some days where we do some flights.. hehe.. that sounds stupid..

what i mean is not official fly-ins or events.. just a few evenings or weekends where we get together and fly.. wether it be actual EHM timetable flights, or just flying through interesting terrain using the VFA aircraft and even just in a flight sim multiplayer game, although that means using the same version, so i think IVAO would be better, but ATC isnt important..

We used to do this sort of thing every thursday, and I know it will be hard getting times when everyone is together, but its just an idea..

Andy, your idea has been noted. The MT has about a month ago talked about the whole online flying thing (offical fly-ins and thing like that). But it was decided to put it off for some time, because of the current season. Summer isn't the time where people are most activ on the FS front. So that's the the offical policy.
But what I hear you talk about is something a little more unoffical. Well perhaps you should make some plans, something like where, when, how and what, and then posted it.

yeah, i see what you mean about summer.. didnt really think of that..

I know in the past its been hard getting times when people are together, so maybe we should wait a while..

Yes the summer, it's the best time for that kind of thing. But I'm sure that later on something in the line of some online events will be made.

Actually I think its a great idea, Im flying almost nothing in Summer, I just dont have the time, but a short online flight would be great!!! Just a couple of pilots, if anyone is interested mail me with your preferences on time and date and I could fix something unofficial up.

Cheers ;)

Alex;)

I also think it is a great idea....keeping it unnofficial is a good idea but official will entice more pilots. Also, it will show the EuroHarmony name on the IVAO network...I rarely see it there around now.

Veering a little off topic.....just wondering.....when's summer in American and in Europe? As i remember they are at different times of the year but cant remember when..

As far as I know the summer in the USA is the same as Europe, but i think it changes for the places in the southern hemisphere (so South America) who have the opposite of what we have.

Indeed. Summer begins the 21st/22nd of june
(soltice) for anybody in the northern hemisphere.
In the southern hemisphere
that's instead the beginning of winter.
On the 21st/22nd of december the situation
is inverted, with Australians, South Africans
and SouthAmericans enjoying the beginning
of summer and us on the other half of the
planet preparing for a white christmas.

Ciao ciao!

Summer in Europe and N. America, as well as the north of asia is in June-September, more or less, inverse south of the Equator, however thats totally different than the rainy seasons or similar that some tropical places have. As far for the unofficial thing, I'm into it, how about a Friday??? 20:00Z good???

OK,

FRIDAY 6TH, 2000Z.

Anyone care to choose location???

Some of these?

EHM-2018 Heathrow - Isle of Man

EHM-2032 Heahtrow - Newcastle

Both are about 1:00 - 1:30 long.. I would prefer a longer flight, but it would keep things simple.. Also we could do the return leg also?

Are you wanting to stay within the UK or fly elsewhere?

How about Flight 2000

HEATHROW-MANCHESTER

Seems that while were at it might as well catch all the traffic, and as far as I know those are the two biggest Airports as traffic is concerned in the UK. I would choose the Dornier 328-120...

I will try to be there if this is going to happen. I think a longer flight such as EGLL to EGPH would be better, but if everyone is agreed on EGCC then so be it.

Maybe I will see if an announcement can be made on the announcements page, just to get more traffic, not all pilots visit the forums. It would still be an 'unofficial' event, but maybe more pilots will take part.
