Title: Schipol
Post by: EHM-2383 Ian on September 14, 2009, 11:25:04 pm
Can anyone recommend a good freeware improvement for EHAM? I have been using the Project X material to improve the default version and although this seems to me to be OK in many ways, I am finding that many of the heavy aircraft at the gates have their noses embedded in the terminal building!!

Thanks,

Ian

Ian,

Are you using FS9 or FSX? I know that for FS9 the best freeware improvement will be the NL2000 scenery (http://www.nl-2000.com/) for all of the Netherlands, it's a big download but well worth it ;)

As for FSX, I don't think NL2000 is compatible with it, unless there's a new version. Anyone know any different?

However, there are a couple of FSX improvements available here (http://walhalla.mine.nu/fsx/netherlands.html) that you might wish to try...

Hi Dominic

I am using FS9. Will take a look at what you suggest although it does appear to be a huge download. Will such a size of download not have a marked impact on frame rates?

It is detailed scenery but not too bad on frames - the huge download is because it includes airports AND details for ports, towns etc for the entire country with photorealistic ground textures ;)

Try it and see - you can always remove it if it slows things down too much!

NL-2000 is really amazing.
A trip report (not mine):

Current V3 is not FSX compatible (which is one of two reasons why I don't have it installed :(), but V4 will be.
V4 is currently in its beta stage, but no release date yet...
