Title: Number of planes
Post by: EHM-0962 Zhen Yi on October 17, 2005, 01:28:29 pm
in the main fleet page it says that there are 30 747-400s in the fleet but in propilot there are only one stationed at each hub. was that a mistake or just to reduce the number of planes avaliable? the number for other planes also dont match (eg the fleet page says there's only 5 747-400F while there's two stationed at every hub in propilot. is that to encourage more pilots to fly EuroCargo flights? :P)

at the same time the search for the 747-400 and the cargo version seems to be linked together as well (eg both planes are turned up when searching for either one)

Hi,

Unfortunately they are not linked. That was our mistake and our Fleet Manager will correct it (not his fault also).

The second one we will take a look at it too.

When we decided about number of planes, it was decided after the required airplanes for the offline timetable. So we have only 6-6 class-1 planes because they fly "all day", and can make a lot of scheduled flights. We have 30-30 class-7 planes, because those fly only 1...2 per days, and we need those many planes to be able to fill the timetable.

ProPilot is different. We have only 1...2 dozens of ATP pilots, who will not fly alltogether the same time, and probably not fly the 747 all of them. This led us to reduce the number of airplanes according to the number of pilots, so we reduce planes at high classes, and increased them in lower classes.

If you think it is a problem, that the 2 system uses different number of planes, they can be equalised ;)

The second part is corrected.

Given Robert's justification, this ticket is closed. The numbers will maintain as they are now.
