Title: EGHD closed?!?!
Post by: EHM-0654 Murray on September 05, 2013, 11:47:03 am
I've just found out that one of our Class 1 staple airports, Plymouth City, was closed in 2012. :(

I realise we (the VA) operate in a "fantasy world", but it was always one of my great pleasures to hop from Plymouth to Edinburgh when testing aircraft. Now, should I want to maintain reality, that option is gone.

IRL, when flight to/from London were withdrawn in 2011, daily passenger numbers declined to the point where it wasn't economic to keep the airport open.

Too bad for this airport... But I think we should maintain reality and close this airport as well
For testing I prefer EDDG to EDDF

I took a trip to Plymouth airport just before it was closed and it was quite sad, the end of an era and a load of people losing their jobs into the bargain  :(

But the beauty of flightsim is that we can choose to be realistic one day and then fly from closed airports such as Kai Tak, Plymouth City or Tempelhof the next  :)
