Title: EuroHarmony's Christmas Mission 2013
Post by: EHM-1465 Dominic on December 14, 2013, 08:38:59 am

Ho Ho Ho!! This Christmas the EHM MT have a special Mission for you all - we have been contacted by a certain Mr Claus with the sad news that his entire team of magic reindeer have succumbed to a bout of food poisoning due to a bad batch of mince pies!!

Santa has chartered EuroCargo Division to help him deliver his many sackloads of presents around the globe so that young (and old) boys and girls receive their gifts on time - failure is not an option  ;D

We are therefore asking all available pilots to assist in this vital work ;)

Your Mission (if you choose to accept it) is to select your favourite EuroCargo plane and fly initially from our Hub at Stockholm Arlanda (ESSA) to Santa's official airport at Rovaniemi (EFRO) - there are scheduled flights in the timetable for this leg. You can get useful info on EFRO and scenery links at THIS LINK (http://xmas.ivao.fi/efro/).

Load up your aircraft with as many sackloads of gifts as you can carry and then fly your second leg to ANY DESTINATION OF YOUR CHOICE - wherever you want to send a bit of Christmas cheer! All EuroCargo current fleet aircraft are charterable for the duration of this Christmas Mission so you can fly to any airport in our database, just choose DISPATCH / CHARTER to select your flight ;)

If you wish you may fly back to EFRO and complete another leg to a different destination - in fact, I would like everyone who takes part to update this Forum thread with a quick post telling us where you took your load of presents to and I will maintain a map in this top post showing all the routes completed :)

You can also include any screenshots you have taken of your trip, and these will be considered by the MT for adding to the screenshot display on the EHM front page - make them as festive as you like and you can edit them however you want as long as a link to EHM is apparent in the picture ;)

I suggest our online pilot group might wish to organise a group Mission flight over the festive period? Feel free to make the arrangements in this thread :)

Enjoy the Mission (which runs from today until Sunday 29/12/13) and a very Merry Christmas to one and all from everybody on the Management Team :)

ROUTES COMPLETED SO FAR:-

Excellent mission, and challenge, Dominic!

I made a Doodle for the online crusaders that will come to the rescue:
http://doodle.com/f588fdggwvrfeixz (http://doodle.com/f588fdggwvrfeixz)

If anybody would like to see a different day / time combo added, leave a reply here, and I will update the Doodle

[EDIT] This Doodle is for the Stockholm-Rovaniemi leg, collecting the presents, only; once that one is established, we can discuss when we go where to distribute the presents (everybody fly home, for example ;) )

Hello from Portugal

I did a transport from Rovaniemi to Stornoway, a remote airport of Scotland, full of gifts to warm this Xmas.
I used the Boeing MD-17 as the load was impressive...
I flew back into Rovaniemi and I'm planning a new route.

Marry Xmas to all our members.

Thanks Luis, you are the first pilot to complete the Xmas Mission and I've created the route map in the first post of this thread showing your route, well done ;)

I'm sure the residents of the Outer Hebrides are very grateful for your Christmas delivery, although I think a few of them were quite alarmed at the sight of an MD-17 descending towards the island  ;D

Merry Christmas to you too!

A nice touch again Dominic; also the visual representation of the flights on the Forum has to be a big plus. ;)

Congratulations Luis on delivering the first batch of prezies ;)

Merry Christmas to everyone and all the best for 2014. ;D

Good morning

Another flight for the Christmas Mission 2013.
This time with the Shorts 360 from Rovaniemi to Hasvik - ENHK, in Norway. A little nice airport very adequate for the Shorts.

Marry Xmas

Just flew in from EHGG (Groningen - Holland) and arrived after more then three houres in Stockholm. Totally empty! I hope to get a full load from Santa Claus at EFRO some time next week.

In the meantime, I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year with a whole lot of pleasant flights!

Meet you on Mumble!

Peter

p.s. some screenshots of this pre-Christmas flight!

There seems to be a rising interest in the Christmas Flights.
Personally I have just completed leg 1 from ESSA - EFRO to pick up prezzies and then I took the 747-400F all the way down to Nairobi in order to get some gifts to the children of Kenya.
I attach three Snips:-  1) Coming into Rovaniemi to do the pick up and 2) climbing out enroute to Nairobi.  Also 3) which shows the "Queen of the Skies" in all her glory.
Next is to return and help Mr Claus some more.

Regards to you all.

Dirk

Thanks for this one Dom ;) I'll try to do ESSA-EFRO with Short 360 and with B-744 EFRO-SPZO.
Thanks again and happy holidays guys and greetings for your families. :D

Tried ESSA-EFRO today with the DA F-70, posing as the BAe-146 ;).
Had a good flight all the way 'til half-way the STAR, when my GFX power failed me miserably :(

I'll take presents from EFRO next time, but I wont do the ESSA-EFRO leg all over agian, because I just don't have that much flying time...

For the online crew: It looks like next Monday, 2000Z is the preferred time slot for the ESSA-EFRO leg. I won't be able to join, due to X-mas drinking with the colleagues. ;D
I tried (and failed) the flight yesterday, but I certainly want to take up the next opportunity to fly with you guys, and go distribute presents from EFRO. We'll make a new Doodle for that leg.

For now, let's stick to ESSA EFRO on Monday, the 23rd, 2000Z, on IVAO and the Company Channel

Anybody that wants to join is, as always, more than welcome to do so ;)

Suggested route: ESSA SID RESNA P609 BABUX STAR EFRO

Landed @ SPZO
Enough rwy for taxi
Cont tx to the apron
And no more presents until next flight

See you on Monday 23 and I propose BAe-146 or similar  ::)

afb03: Holding short
afb02: Weather conditions as it should be over there!;

Sorry guys, but something came up out of the blue or rather someone! So, I'm not gonna make it this evening. I hope you will have a pleasant flight and say hello to Santa for me  overthere in Finland.

BTW I think it's better to fly leg05 of the Aeropostale Transatlantic Tour of your own. I guess it's almost impossible to meet up. I will post a Doodle-link first thing next year for leg06.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Peter

HoHoHo Santa has arrived at Belgium  :D
What a nice event to return to the virtual skies after an absent of almost a year.

I flow an Airbus 319, the closest to the cargo 310 that I could find for x-plan.
Maybe I need to gift myself the qpac a320  ;)

I've use realtime weather, with was a nice challenge, and simulated day light.

Low visibility during the flight ESSSA - EFRO due to snow

Approach EFRO

Taxing at EFRO

Above EBBR, following approach chart for ILS RWY 20

Approach EBBR, winds 190° / 22, gusting 35

Merry Christmas Renaat and thanks for joining in the Xmas Mission :)

I've added your leg to the Mission Map at the top of the thread ;)

Still plenty of time to transport more presents around the world for anyone who hasn't been a Sleigh Captain yet  ;D

Yep, just saw that on "recent flights" ;)
Doing EFRO-KIAH myself a.t.m. (offline; camping / laptop flight). I have EFRO-EHAM set-up at home, so maybe I'll fly that one on Sunday (online?)

Just finished EFRO-KIAH in the 747-400F  ;D

Did use time compression over Greenland through 200nm short of KIAH, so my flight time is a little shorter ;)

Let's see what other routes we can add over the weekend before the Mission closes :)

The map's looking fantastic now with cargo taken all the way across the globe ;)

LAST DAY TODAY TO BRING SOME CHRISTMAS CHEER AROUND THE PLANET  ;D

BTW - Nice going to get that A310 into Paro David, must have been a challenging approach!!

Prob the last one of the X-Mission 2013 ... ETA EHAM 2200Z (plus taxi time from 18R ;))
Well under way, but offline due to connection failure, 3 times in a row. Too bad, because I would have had ATC all the way from EFRO to EHAM.

New GFX card allows for light blooming to be "on" again. I must say I think it's a bit overdone, though. Still figuring out good settings.

[EDIT]
It got to be 2204 landing 18R, and at about 2220, I docked at R-platform (where the big Cargo guys usually reside) to drop off those last packages

Thanks E-J, a nice final leg back to our Hub at EHAM to close the Mission ;)

Thank you very much to all the pilots who have braved the winter weather to assist Father Christmas with his vital work, he asked me to tell you all: "Ho Ho Ho, you've all been very good!"

Here's a repeat of the final Xmas Mission Map for 2013, great freight hauling guys...

The EuroCargo fleet is now back to non-charter status but watch this space for new Missions along these lines in 2014 ;)

Did you really stay up late, just to close the Mission, Dominic?  :P

Thanks for setting things up like this! I really enjoyed watching the map "grow" as the mission progressed.
Curious as to what new missions lay ahead in 2014... ;)

Nope, I didn't finish work until 0100  ;)
But that worked out really well and it was really enjoyable to see how the map covered more and more of the globe each time I made a new one :) Glad you enjoyed it E-J.

As to new ones... don't want to spoil the surprise just yet  ;D
