Title: Frankfurt hop.
Post by: EHM-1001 Robert on April 06, 2004, 04:32:06 pm
After the successfull Luxemburg tour I decided to fly to Frankfurt (EDDF) where I also never flew before. Why? Who knows... Anyway, I love to fly this short distance routes on a small but dynamic turboprop. ;)

In the morning time at Amsterdam

Rush hour at EHAM. Catching the end of the convoy...

In the line...still at EHAM.

On the air, over Holland. This ATR is beautiful!

Nice shots! Though I must admit that one heck of a traffic jam for EHAM... highest amount of planes I've seen lined up and waiting there is four.

Superb shots and I agree the props are superb. Really enjoyed my blast in the A319-100 today though.
Best flying experience at present is flying the tour of sweden in the Cirrus SR20 consistently fighting the prop wash.

I love the CRJ 200, its stable and most of all, it's a jet. Great shots, and i reckon EHM planes blend in with the KLM and other planes:]

Well, about the traffic jam, it is usual at big airports that in the first 15-30 minutes there is a long convoy where everybody wants to take off. This is quite unrealistic, but I like long waitings ;)

I remember the old days with the CRJ200. It was very strange to sit into a so fast but small plane like the CRJ after many hours flying on a turboprop. But I wanted to fly Boeings so I collected flight hours as fast as possible. ;)

I still have to set up the FS Screen and learn how to set up the camera for good shots in FS2004... I usually send my shots to the gallery though.

Cheers for more great screen shots!!!

Alex;)

P.S. That is one heck of a traffic jam at EHAM, I love to wait in line, but I hate when I have to miss an approach 3 times because the stupid FS ATC cant get his things right.

i think that getting hold ups is great news, doesn't half boost up your block flight time.

Haha well if you look at it that way ;) the company's burning lots of fuel while we sit there waiting for our turn to take off

This is true but it always used to state in the operating manual that you are only allowed to claim fifteen minutes before take-off and fifteen minutes after touch down. Don't know if that rule still applies but if it does then to be honest at a busy Heathrow or similar sized airport you can barely have enough time to get to and from the gate.

I dunno why but I thought it was half an hour before take-off and half an hour after landing.  I had a quick scan through the operations manual there but I didn't see anything (although I'm sure it is in there!)

Its a maximum of 30 minutes is what I think I heard. That is more than enough to get up and running at any airport under any conditions.

Cheers,

Alex;)
