Title: Volcanic ash closes airports in Northern Europe
Post by: EHM-1465 Dominic on April 15, 2010, 12:55:27 pm
For those of you that like to mimic real world operations and restrictions when flying for EHM, have a look at these pages from the BBC News website:-

It looks like other hubs than ESSA, EHAM or EGLL will be better for your flights for a couple of days ;)

Alternatively of course, you can just set your weather settings to Cumulonimbus up to 60,000 ft with very heavy turbulence and 'engine failures' to very probable  :D

Iceland did not get it:
We want your Cash, not your ash ...

 ;D

(Sorry, just couldn't resist. No harm intended :))

Well, British Airways sent a Jumbo up into the ash cloud (http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2010/04/19/340791/ash-cloud-no-engine-degradation-on-ba-747-test-flight.html) for a couple of hours and declared that they don't know what all the fuss is about! Nothing to do with how much money they're losing this year of course  ;)

Not to be outdone, EuroHarmony has also sent a B747 up into the cloud to test out whether the airspace ban is unnecessary... I'll leave you to judge the results for yourselves but Rolls Royce were not impressed!
