Title: July Fly-in Event
Post by: EHM-1798 Conrad on July 19, 2006, 02:26:18 pm
IMPORTANT
Event is Saturday 22nd July - sorry for the mix-up

On behalf of the Online Flying Department; we would like to announce this months Fly-in.

Manchester (EGCC) is the chosen destination and the departure from Brussels National (EBBR). This event is going to take place this weekend and the date is:

Saturday 22nd July 2006 @ 18:00z (19:00 UK local, 20:00 CET)

Full details about the event (ie: route, star, aircraft, charts) are in the "Online Section" of the main site.

Its around 286 nm so it should take you just over an hour in the B738, however, Class 4 or above aircraft allowed for the event (dont worry about your current rank).

ATC

Im trying to get a full coverage of ATC for the entire flight, so far we have

EGCC_TWR -> Rico Allee S3
EGTM_CTR -> Conrad Oldcorn C1
EGTL_CTR -> Luke Bowes C2
EBBU_CTR -> Hopefully Someone

Let us know whether you can make it, so we have an idea of numbers.

Regards

Conrad

You can add a ground to that control group;D

But, if there is all control, no traffic, I will fly.

That could be the case, i suggest you fly, there would be no reason to open ground as all your going to be saying to each pilot is "Taxi to stand xx via xx report on blocks" (except for some departures), i suggest you fly ;)

I don't want to spoil anyone elses night :[

Steve, of course you can!

At the moment there isn't any EBBU_CTR, so that will be unicom or unless someone comes on as APP or Twr etc, but you will be fine, you will be under great hands from Luke, myself and rico :) All details on the main page any questions, just ask me ;) or the MT.

Im sure raza will take care of you from EBBR ;)

I'm also Willing to help in anyway I can;D

Slight problem though. I went to print off the charts for a little run through today, and I ran out of black ink.:@

Hopefully, I can get a new cartridge in time by the flight, and I'm sure I will. I'll run down the street to the printer shop!

My dog stepped on my little toe when chasing the cat, cuz the cat stole his fav. barbie doll. So now I'm not so sure I'll be able to press the PTT button to provide ATC. Hopefully itwill be cured in time by the flight, and I'm sure it will. Ill run down the street to the pharmacy to get a 'teletubbies' bandage :%

Stop trying to wuss out on your C1 exam Rico. It's a dog, not a Shetland Pony (what breed is it??? Bull Mastif's can get pretty huge...)

 I've spent $25 on the new version of RealityXP GNS530 so I can make my "private" Avanti fly nicely again, and I'm not going to have that spoiled...

;)

I'm going to try to participate, but as the MT know, this week is a little hectic for me so I'm not goin to make promises.

Oh, and Steve, you're most welcome to take part, no matter whether this will be your first flight online or you're a 1,000+ hr veteran (like what I am...)

We (the online flying department) try to make all the fly-ins "newb friendly" spaces where everyone can learn something. Just make sure you've read the Online Flying Manual before you start, and even if you choose not to use voice comms (it's very much easier on you and ATC if you do though), do listen in on the various facilities so you can hear the radio procedures.

I'm still coming. Right now in Birmingham, it is very very humid, and raining, and yes, thunderstorms expected, so this is either going to turn out the most exciting event, or a big mess!

I just started a test flight, and my FMC can't recognise the SIDS. Just so I know, do I need the new Airac cycle, I've just installed it, but I haven't tried it out yet.
Title: July Fly-in Event
Post by: EHM-1798 Conrad on July 22, 2006, 11:15:02 am
You install the AIRAC cycle first
then goto http://planepath.com - download the Sid/star files and install. (Terminal Proceedures > PMDG) This is a self installing file.

Then back to Navdata.at and install the All-in-one package.... This is just a .zip file and you need to extract these SID/STARS to:

 L:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\PMDG\SIDSTARS

Your drive letter will be different, if prompted, overwrite the ones allready in there!

I dont know what sid you will use at EBBR - i will find out with razza in 1 hour, however at manchester you will be using the Dayne2a arrival.

thanks. At the second website though, the installation is exactly the same as the AIRAC cycle at Navdata, but never mind, thanks for the help!;D

Well, I'm doing the test flight now, and everything programmed fine, except UL160, so I'm afraid, I'll go direct to LAM. I can;t be bothered to install anotehr 600 files lol!:o

Post by: EHM-1798 Conrad on July 22, 2006, 12:01:16 pm
thats no probs, However Enter RAPIX instead of the airway as i need to you pass over that intersection. For people who can get that airway to work, then there is no need to enter RAPIX as the airway will take you across it!

Also you will here me say "Trent" quite alot, basicly thats the name for the VOR TNT!

Post by: EHM-1883 Matt on July 22, 2006, 12:07:40 pm
Ok. That's no problem. I just want to add, I'm going into Birmingham, so then I might have dinner a bit later, so that means that I won't be exactly on time for departure, I'll be a bit late. Is that ok?

That is the wrong Airway Matt, it is UL610!

Post by: EHM-1883 Matt on July 22, 2006, 05:02:42 pm
No wonder!!! LOL! I'll try that on the actual flight. If it still doesn't, work, I'll enter RAPIX

It's ok, I was alot quicker than I thought, so I should be on time now.

Just so everyone knows, in Birmingham, we are having sudden amounts of rain, and lightning and thunder. Right now, it has stopped, but at 0200Z, it was really, really bad. I know because I was stuck in the middle of it shopping at the bullring.

It's one of those Television reports:

"A disaster occured to 6 flights with Euroharmony leaving EBBR today. Some planes dropped out of the sky, and one even fell over during takeoff! It's a real disaster here. 6 planes went in, 2 came out. if that's not to bad, don't even let us mention the ATC at EBBR!"

Mucho apologias...

The SO decided she wanted to get shopping out of the way tonight (read "now!"...) and as those of us with a few years under our belt know, they're not called "she who must be obeyed" for nothing; only just got back.

Having said that, I was having absolutely no luck getting the FMC to do LNAV (was happy to VNAV for some reason though), so I really wasn't that upset to chuck it in...

that's a shame you didn't come. It was alright. I over-reacted a bit earlier. I think we should still re-schedule it though, because it's sad to end the event with not many people making it.

Well - we will see -

Everyone except Ian and Tim, had many problems, i myself had developed a spyware/virus infestation from somewhere..... seemed to get worse whilst using ivac and many people did not make it. However just prepae for the long flight event next month. This time, no excuses :P :D

I'm going to refly the event today (1100Z ish...), need to try to iron the gremlins outta my PM setup afore my MCP hardware turns up (I'm assured it's on it's way from Candadia), so any of you that want another go at it are welcome to join me - Note: this is not a "repeat" of the event, it just me flying a flight and inviting anyone that wants to to join me.

@Ben: we try to make the long events 5+ hrs!

I should have gone, but I had something really, really important going on, and I can't say what it is. But I would've loved to have done it again. maybe my fmc would have been better. I redid the flight on my own, and no fmc failure! It's a curse!
