Title: DC-3 Mixture control
Post by: EHM-1001 Robert on March 01, 2013, 05:45:52 pm
Hi Mates,

I was always wondering what is the optimum mixture setting for prop planes. I can't see any difference in flying at 100% or 10% mixture. In FS9 there is not any change in how the engine works - as there is no fuel usage gauge I cant see if I set it correctly. I also red on the net, that the DC-3 had an automatic mixture control with 4 notches on the mixture lever, not a complete "analog" setting. So how do you do mixture setting ???

Hi Robert,

Since several weeks and more intensively during flying the Tropic Traders Tour I've tried to master the DC-3. From my experience I could do some explanation about using throttle-, propeller- and mixturebehaviour, but there's a lot of information that can be found on the web, f.i. try this one: http://www.dc3airways.com/technical/flying_fsx.htm (http://www.dc3airways.com/technical/flying_fsx.htm)

Wow ! Thanks a lot, that is a superb tutorial... unfortunately the default model does not include these nice characteristics :)
