Hi folks,

this week I was visiting the Industrial Messe in Hannover. On friday we decided with my colleagues to visit Hamburg and take a ride in the city, and see the famous StPauli district :P

But when we arrived we get into the middle of a huge celebration in the ports. The brand new AIDAdiva "clubship" or ocean cruiser was celebrated before its first trip to Mallorca. It was an amazing 1 hour show with hundreds of lights, lasers, fireworks, and a fabolous J-M Jarre style music. (you can look at some pictures/videos at YouTube, and NDR.de which broadcasted the whole event)

Have any of you seen that show ? It was amazing ! There was a very cloudy night that day, and as the 180 light beams hit the cloud layer it looked ethereal ! I think it was the best show I seen in my life.

Well done Hamburg, good luck Diva !

Robert,

These sort of shows are common for launch ceremonies of large cruise ships. I was lucky enough to be on board (Working) when the Queen Mary 2 was launched in Southampton which was also a spectacular event, like you, I think it was the greatest event I have been too. Heather Small (ex M People) sang a song called Proud which was very apt and touched many of us who worked on her. From the point of view of the show, another one that I was present for was probably equal to the QM2 that was the launch ceremony of the MS Rotterdam in her home port of Rotterdam, that was a fantastic event because the whole harbour was lit up with lasers, lights, smoke and fireworks. Great memories of a great events and I wish I could have been there for the Diva launch! It is always a great party, especially for the crew who built her!

Haha, I did not know it is a regular show when a new cruiser is launched.

Yes it was spectacular, although the YouTube videos does not cover the event nicely enough...neither in quality ;D

The Diva will have 3 sisterships so we can expect more shows probably in the following years ;)
