We tried to do some formation flying during this leg WADD-WRKO (WATO):

Peter had lost his Mumble connection here, but he's still connected to IVAO for saying cheese (yes, and wine, David ;)) on UNICOM ;)

Thank You , guys, for yet another great Tropical Traders adventure!
And David for leading us there  ;D

BTW: Formation Flight settings in IvAp can be changed with the sliders at the bottom of the picture on this page:
http://academy.ivaousa.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=149&Itemid=131&limitstart=4

At a cost of higher bandwidth consumption, and higher CPU load ...

(promised I would look this up ;))

My screenshot contribution of our flight yesterday evening. As before, you'll find the rest of the images in the Gallery!

Thanks again David for straighten out our path and EJ for the tip of the settings of formation flying. Hope to meet you on leg 6!

Untill today the four diehards have signed up for the next leg of the Tropic Traders Tour! If all stays the same, we'll be flying WATO to WAAT on Wednesday the 30th at 19:00 houres Zulutime.

As usual I took some time to prepare the route.  First of all - I'm the owner of just a VFR-chart of the BENELUX - I explored Skyvectors to set out the route and found out that WAAT is not recognized. No problem, that happens all the time, especially when it concernes small airfields. The second and to my opinion more reliable source is Ourairports.com! Makale airport (WAAT) is known... 4.4nm SSE of WAWT (Pongtiku airport). Zooming in on the mapview, no airfield, airstrip is found. Maybe Makale is ressorting under Pongtiku airport! The third source, Aviationtools, tells me different: WAAT and WAWT are two different airports, with different locations!
FSX shows only WAWT.

Problem?.... no problem at all! Just created an airstrip, platform and some local buildings and hangars! Makale airport excists from now on!  Who said that the world isn't makeable. The question remains and perhaps will be answered when arriving to Makale airport, will Flightlogger except this destination or not. If not,  Pongtiku is just 4.4nm further away and perhaps within F
lightloggers range?
I hope this doesn't cause that much trouble as WATO did... or was it WRKO! :-\

Meet you again next Wednesday on Mumble!

This airport changed ICAO codes between FS9 and FSX, and never got upddated in X-Plane. ;)

FS9: WAAT
FSX: WAWT
XP9: WAAT
XP10: WAAT
Airport name in all sims is Pongtiku, in the "city" of Pongtiku :)

(Same situation with WATO: only WRKO in FSX)

So there is no need for additional scenery packages; the airport exists in all sims, under different names, maybe. And Flight Logger, should be able to handle the ICAO aliasing correctly.

As usual... here and in the Gallery some screenshots of yesterday's flight. Gian, David, Eric-Jan, Trevor and me started a little later than planned at Komodo Airport for the sixth leg of the Tropic Traders Tour. After a pretty long trip over sea, we finally reached mainland and set course to Pongtiku, which was a bit hard to find. EJ ran out of fuel at the end of the runway (like a true penny-pinching Dutchman), Gian's FSX crashed just before landing and I had to make the approach three times, not able to see the runway due to the clouds. The pictures show that in the end we all savely landed!

Thank you, Peter, David, Gian, and Trevor  ;D

Ready for departure rwy35

Trevor on my "7"

Peter on my "1"

... and David on my "10"

I had some troubles getting my RH fuel switch turning through the "off" position from "Main" to "Aux"... So I had no RH engine for a while, and this is the flight path you get when you bury your head deep inside the cockpit, to fiddle with the switch  :-[

Everybody was strugling to find the runway. The view from in the air was like dense fog ... non-existent...

I really had no reserve fuel! Had to pushback to vacate the runway ...

Peter scaring off some birds  ;D

I had a real nice time! Too bad Gian's FL needed a re-install, and that his FSX crashed right after the moment he caught up with us. Better luck next leg, Gian!

Thks Peter for your pictures and support :).. This  FSX sudden crash is really the most frustrating one, in particular when you are almost done! In the end I could restart and complete the flight, and found that Trevor and David were still on line. They stayed tuned until I landed. Thanks to them. Hope better luck next time!

Never mind EJ; hope you will be present the next time the Traders will fly! The other four did enjoy themselves very much and reached WAMG savely! As before, here some screenshots and the rest you'll find in the Gallery.
