DC-3 Mixture control

(1/1)

EHM-1001 Robert:
Hi Mates,

I was always wondering what is the optimum mixture setting for prop planes. I can't see any difference in flying at 100% or 10% mixture. In FS9 there is not any change in how the engine works - as there is no fuel usage gauge I cant see if I set it correctly. I also red on the net, that the DC-3 had an automatic mixture control with 4 notches on the mixture lever, not a complete "analog" setting. So how do you do mixture setting ???

EHM-2758 Peter:
Hi Robert,

Since several weeks and more intensively during flying the Tropic Traders Tour I've tried to master the DC-3. From my experience I could do some explanation about using throttle-, propeller- and mixturebehaviour, but there's a lot of information that can be found on the web, f.i. try this one: http://www.dc3airways.com/technical/flying_fsx.htm

Wow ! Thanks a lot, that is a superb tutorial... unfortunately the default model does not include these nice characteristics :)
