sky vector

Hello all, Any one know about this ,

Well, it would appear that SkyVector has opted to dump the flight simulation community entirely, and switch to providing services exclusively to licensed pilots (and students) for filing actual flight plans.  Severe fines and criminal penalties will result if one does not realize this, and accidentally files an FAA flight plan as a result.

The site now requires a user account to use the site.  Users must also sign off that the KNOW the site is not for simulation or gaming, that it is only for professional use, and that fines and prison are possible for use otherwise.

Unless you are a real world licensed pilot (or student) flying an actual aircraft and needing to file a flight plan with the FAA, my advice is to avoid the site entirely to avoid possible criminal charges.

This is a sharp departure from what the site had been doing in the past.  I guess they have to pay for those servers somehow, even though they've largely been using the FAA as their file repository (for all maps, charts, etc).

FlightAware made a similar move some months back, though they simply made it harder for flight simmers to use the site.  FlightAware, it has always been understood, was primarily for real world pilots.  SkyVector, on the other hand, had been used primarily by flight simmers.  That ended today, now we are no longer welcome.

Good luck to them, they will be sorely missed.
