Innsbruck Screenshots (1.89MB - dialup warning)
EHM-1617 Iain:
Here is my familiarisation flight in Innsbruck:
RTT1J RWY08 departure and hold at RTT NDB at 9500'.
DCT KTI NDB 13000' and then full LLZDME West approach, circling for RWY08 (the most difficult procedure at Innsbruck).
Hope you like them, comments welcome.
Engines Started!
Ready for takeoff!
Liftoff!
In the RTT hold, 9500'.
On the LLZ West approach, in the narrow valley.
Looking down at the city.
Nearing the MAPt, where a visual right turn is made to heading 254*.
After the turn, heading 254*.
On the right downwind for RWY08, now hdg 264* and 3700'.
Turning and descending to line up RWY08.
Almost completed the turn to final, but too high. Reduce throttle!
On short final, lined up nicely, altitude problem fixed as the GPWS calls 100'.
Idle thrust at 60KIAS, flaps up, spoilers retracted.
Comments are welcome as always.
Sceneries used:
eurslowi.zip (adds OEJ llz, missing in FS9) - Avsim
innsbruck_g2k4.zip (very nice terrain, landclass, river for Innsbruck) - Avsim

EHM-1343 Jonathan:
WOW, spectacular shots, i need to try that out
looks so good fun, was it a smooth touch down. btw, you should try to land there in harder weather, i done a vis rwy26 there and i nearly crahsed, cheers for the scenery links
EHM-1343 Jonathan:
can you post direct links to the files, i cannot find them:(
EHM-1617 Iain:
Yes the touchdown was smooth, will try different weather.
The LLZ West is sensational, but you need at least the top scenery listed above to use it. You start about 20nm west of the airport, join a LLZ (no GS). The LLZ is not lined up with the RWY at all, the RWY is off to the left at an angle. In the 737 you need a steep 1400fpm descent to keep to the profile.
Then the AB locator swings, you crank over to the right, just missing the mountains, follow the southern edge of the valley and desc to 3700' (just clearing some of the valley), then crank it over to the right again at your Vref and 30*bank (scary, I almost stalled) and even then you miss the centreline, have to turn back to it and you find yourself on a quite short final approach.
http://www.firwien.at/charts/lowi/locdme_west.pdf - the approach chart.
http://www.firwien.at/charts/lowi/pfslowi_vac.pdf - the visual section. You come in on the red line from the bottom left toward the AB NDB, then follow the outermost red line.
Of course, in the alps, theres always the foehn to contend with - limited visibility, 20KT (50KT gust) southerly winds up and downdrafts . That must be really hard.
EHM-1617 Iain:
Instead of typing 'blahblahblah.zip' type 'blahblahblah*' in to the avsim search.
I don't know why you need to, but it seems to work.
The top and bottom ones are dead easy to install, the middle one is harder. And the mesh is about 47MB.
