EHM-1617 Iain:
If you are going to do any approach into innsbruck in a 737 or bigger then take absolutely as little fuel as possible. You need to be able to make a 0.9NM turn radius (which is 154KIAS 25* bank).

Obviously this is close in a 737 (you have to get almost down to Vref before you even enter the visual section of the approach) but in anything bigger... you get the idea. And if you miss the turn radius then there is no leeway at all, you go into the other side of the valley.

For LLZDME WEST Approach:

Get on the LLZ as on the chart and put the gear down before even starting descent. You'll need it - it's a steep descent and you have to keep your speed down for the turns. Establish at 150KIAS with a 1300fpm descent to 5000.

After AB, turn to heading 254* keeping your altitude at the MDA of 5000' no lower. This turn must be a 0.9NM radius or less eg. 154KIAS 25* bank). Check if you have visual reference with the airport. If not, then turn back to the right to rejoin the LLZ and follow the Missed Approach.

When another valley opens on your left, then turn right to 264* and descend slowly (about 650fpm) to 3700. If you descend too quickly, you will hit the side of a hill. You should have the AD out your right window.

Now you have cleared the side of the hill, increase descent rate to around 800 or 900fpm. When you are 45* past the AD, then make another small radius turn to line up. It is almost impossible not to overshoot this turn just a little bit. Use the PAPI and put the plane down on RWY08. And give yourself a pat on the back.
