Well I think this is a cool new feature.

Just a couple of questions:

What is the function of the Number of Flights box?
Does it
1)specify the number of flights that will be given in each period you have set e.g. daily, weekly etc. or
2)the number of flights that will be assigned in total?

ie. 1) you put "2" and "daily" and you will be assigned 2 flights daily for ever?
or 2) you put "2" and "daily" and you will be assigned 2 flights on consecutive days and then no more?

Also how does it know what checkboxes to put in in the chosen ranks section? If it is by rank then it is not working for me?

Because I am now class 5 ;D and I only have checkboxes up to class 4.

I'm Class 4 and only get checkboxes for 1-3 so it's uniform.

Thank you all - is the rank system correct that you cannot be assigned flights for your current rank?

Now that you say it... I just realized I'm rank 3, and have the same problem too...
Bruno will probably correct that soon :)

Okay.

EDIT : Yesterday when i said i thought it was corrected, i had the choice in the panel between 5 classes (I'm class 3).
I checked class 3, and 1 minute ago i received an assignment of class 3 flights.

So, it seems it's working.

Today Sunday I have just been assigned Flight 6009 LPAZ to EGLL, however if I look at the Flight Logger, this flight is allocated to days 2-5, is this a bug in the AFAS or can the flight now be flown on any day if it is allocated by AFAS?.

Yeah, dates and times are just cosmetic. It would be too much of a problem if pilots had to respect it.

Hi,

Sorry, but just had time now to come and check forum messages. I was all the weekend away from home.

So, I am going to check the rank problem as soon as possible.

Thank you,

errr .. i am sorry Blyth but on the database you are rank 3.

You have 32 hours flown, so, you are rank 3. You need 8 hours to pass to Commercial Captain.

Hope you are not doing class 4 flights ;) ... hehehehe ...

Class1 - up to 4 hours - FO
Class2 - 4 - 10 hours - TC
Class3 - 10 - 20 hours - STC - Maabaa
Class4 - 20 - 40 hours - FC C_Blyth
Class5 - 40 - 75 hours - CC - Me
Class6 - 75 -125 hours - SCC
Class7 - 125 hours+ - ATP

So Chris should definately be Class4 and have 4 checkboxes.

I am still only getting 4 checkboxes but I am Class5.

And Maabaa said he was geting 5 checkboxes which seems totally out of line with the others (but still wrong) ;)

Even though I think it's an excellent idea, there's one thing i think this new feature lacks, is the ability to select if we want the flights to be originated at our hubs. In real aviation, correct me if i'm wrong, flights usually originate from the airline hub and then comes back with the same crew. It is not usual for a pilot to fly as a passenger to the location of the airplane to fly it back home.

What i would like to see is an option so that the flight could originate at the pilot's hub and in the same e-mail sent to the pilot the return trip would also be available.

Eg:
I select one daily flight, and my hub is LPPT:

In one e-mail I would have:

LPPT- XXXX on one day

and

XXXX-LPPT on the next day.

Something of this kind would be great to get the flights more personalized for the pilot, because to me it's rare to get a flight which goes or comes out from my hub. Maybe it just me!

Thanks, Pedro Grancha
