(1/2) > >>

EHM-1651 Christian:
I read an article in an norwegian magazine about Norwgian firefighters working for the ISAF force at Kabul airport.

A Russian captain forgot to extend the landingear befor landing an ended  700m down the runway before stopping, when the rescue crew reached their the entred the plane to check if everyone was ok:

He asked the pilots if hey were ok, and the captain said:
Yes, no problem and lit an sigarette :-)

Yes it was an cargoflight an Il-76
Airline unknown
:>

EHM-1343 Jonathan:
hehehehe, those russians.
700m stopping distance of a big bird like the Il76 is pretty awsome
I wonder if the russians ever heard of checklists :P

EHM-1651 Christian:
Were was you last night Razza?

I tought you would be there:-)

EHM-1507 Manuel:
really forgotten??
While flying an airplane, there are some things I don´t even think about.....
During approach it´s an automatic handling, I put the gear down......
I really can´t believe someone´s forgetting that....

But on this place I want to remember an pilot of Austrian Airlines (one or two years ago) who recognised, the nose gear of his Fokker 70 had an malfunction and wont extract while approaching Munich.
So he retracted gear and looked for an snowed field.
There he landed on fuselage and no one got really injured!

Another hero of Aviation!

Greets!

Manu

EHM-1549 Stefan:
I bet the russian pilot had a Vodka bottle under his seat. Cheers... ;D

Manu, wasn't it an engine failure due to an icing problem of that Fokker 70 case?

Greets
Stefan
