I cant imagine how you forget the gear though, and i'm sure ATC would have told him :]

I bet the russian pilot had a Vodka bottle under his seat. Cheers... ;D

Manu, wasn't it an engine failure due to an icing problem of that Fokker 70 case?

Well, the bottle might have been under the seat, but all the vodka must have been inside the pilot..... (excuse that foolish phrasing) :$

About the Fokker I´m not sure myself anymore....
you could be right, but I can´t admit or deny....

To Razza:

And if ATC wouldn´t have told him about his gear, at least his aircraft should have told him.
As far as I know some aircraft got an acoustic warning signal if you get to low or to slow without gear retracted.

For that case: coud vodka make deaf??? ;D

Greets!

EHM-1617 Iain:
It's not strictly ATC responsibility, but if an aircraft landed gear up in broad daylight, then the Tower would probably come in for some critisism as he is a visual controller.
