Getting a PEN with PMDG 737NG

(1/3) > >>

EHM-1353 Mikkel:
Hey

Again I got a PEN and 110 points, for not having the Altimeter at 2992!
In the PMDG simulation, I can change the MB and set it to 1013 MB, but the InHg change with 4 at a time and I can only get it at 2990 or 2994.
So with a 1013 mB I get a PEN...

Hope you can change that. Otherwise I never get my score down .-)

EHM-0948 Bruno:
Hi EHM-1353,

Basically you have to press "B" several times, when passing to FL180.
When you press "B" you set the qnh pressure to the current altitude pressure. So, when you pass FL180, if you press "B" exactly on that time, you dont get that penalty.

EHM-0654 Murray:
Eh? Bruno/Mikkel (do forgive me, but) don't be daft!

If we are talking about the 737 (and we are) both the pilot and FO EFIS CP has a STD button (shared with the BARO switch) that sets the altimeter to 1013mb (29.92inHg) for you! All you need to do is middle mouse click the STD control and the PMDG software will set 1013 for you, click it again and you go back to local QNH/QFE.

Both PMDG and PM have this functionality simulated pretty well.

EHM-0948 Bruno:
oooh :o ...

You're right Murray, sorry but I completely forgot that correct action.

Regards,

EHM-1500 Jim:
true...but problem is, if you just use that std button, even if you time it right, you still get a pro-pilot penalty....if you press B as well as the std then you don't get the penalty - the std button resets the electronic display qnh to standard but not the back up mechanical guage......Jim
