Starting FS

EHM-1909 Chris:
Hi,

I'm new to EuroHarmony and have really enjoyed being part of the VA. EH definitely seems like the friendliest and most interesting VA I've seen. I have two (probably silly) questions for any of you who can help:

1) FS2004: Is it posible to change certain settings so that when you start your flight your aircraft begins with the engines shut down rather than having to shutdown everything before start up on every flight?

2) Flight Logger: Can someone tell me exactly how to use the Flight Logger. I originally had some errors but followed the advice given in some of the threads on the forum, which sorted the problem (thanks!). Now I'm not sure how to set it up so it will start logging info when I start my flight. I've followed the instructions in the FL manual but it just shows me a blank log when I complete my flight. Here's what I'm doing at the moment:

a) Start FS, selecting aircraft, departure and destination airports etc... then I click "Fly Now" and minimise FS window.
b) Start FL and select flight and aircraft.
c) Not sure what to do with it next so I just leave it and maximise the FS window, take off, fly, nearly crash etc, and land.
d) Then shutdown FS and go back to FL, which hasn't logged any info.

I've just noticed that it says "Can't connect to FS" at the bottom of the FL screen. I can't figure out why not.

I'm definitly doing something wrong but I'm not sure what. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

EHM-1703 Philip:
Hi Chris,

Welcome to the VA & the Forums. (You may want to add a signature with your name in so we know what to call you instead of 1909! :P You can do this using the Control Panel link at the top right of the forum page)

Answers to your questions:

1) Yes you can. Start a flight at your favourite airport and with the aircraft you use most. Shut down the engines and put the plane in to the state you want FS to start from. Then go to the file menu and save the flight. Give the flight a name and check the box that says "Make this the default flight". Simple as that!

2) Do have the latest version of FSUIPC installed? (If it can not connect to FS, this is probably why) This is available from the downloads page under the section "For Online Flying"

Also, do you have a copy of MS Office on your PC? You have pressed the update button and filled in all the details on the Preferences page? (Click preferences button at the top and make sure local & online ACARS are enabled, also although it takes time, make sure you press the read airports button) Do you get a little green light next to the flight and the aircraft on the timetable page? On the log page, does the Current Aircraft match the one you are using in FS?

Good luck and give us a shout if you still have trouble.

Hey there Chris, and welcome to EuroHarmony!!

As Phil has already answered your questions quite well I won't go into too much detail. I (personally) haven't found a way to start a flight with the engines off and don't think there is a feature which allows this. If there was, I'm pretty sure the EuroHarmony pilots would have found one! But don't take my word for it, if you do manage to find one then share it with us.

Have fun with us at EuroHarmony... ;D

I start with my engines off the whole time lol, just turn off your engines (and anything else depending how cold and dark you want to go) and then save the panel state  (ie: save the game)

EDIT: reading above, phill allready answered this lol!
