Hi guys...

After 616 hours and 17 minutes, as S3 ATC, of wich 500+ were at EGLL, I've finally plucked up the courage to go for the C1 rating

If I don't pass with flying colors with all that experience, I'll quit

(j/k)

The exam will take place next week Friday, July 28th, at London-Heathrow (EGLL), starting at 1800z.

Fridays at that time also happens to be the GB-Div online night, so 2 good reasons to do some flying that day

Anyone willing to come by and gimme some traffic will be appreciated (be adviced that I'll have a Patriot battery and some Harriers on standby for the unwilling & crazy pilots

)

Also, anyone of you that already went through the C1 ordeal, any advice and tips you can offer will be welcomed...

Very best of luck Rico, will try my damndest to be there (if any of the GB-TAx dept are reading, I'll fly in then out if I can get the timing right... EGHH-EGLL-EGHH)

Best advice I can offer is pray that whoever is your upstream controller doesn't have *any* problems - APP vanished during my practical (as there were 10+ aircraft on their way in) and I was basically having to do work I wasn't supposed to (the examiner both praised me and told me off for that...)

Finally, if Gareth is your examiner (and even if he isn't), phraseology, phraseology, phraseology. I applaud IVAO-GB pushing for more reality in this department...

@ Murray: Would love to have you around. I think my APP atc will be Peter v/d Witte. I was TWR at his C2 exam. he's very good.. We work well 2gether.

And yeah, gaz is my examiner

@ Ben: Like Conrad said, it's an ATC joke... When we have nasty pilots we visualise for our selfs how they'd been shot down by us ..

(Once an APP controoler and me at EGLL, has just 'fired' one at a pilot, and we were counting down to zero (impact) and just when we reached zero, the blip dissapeared from our radar

...hehehe, can you imagine that for the next 20 minutes we weren't able to control as we were laughing our arse off

)

I'll definitely be there! Rico was the one that helped me with everything on IVAO. He was really helpful, so I will be there to help you get your certificate, and I'll be on my best behaviour!;D

Tip from mine. Get all the current charts. Check for the Min Safe Alts for circuits and vectors. Check f/p cruise alts for direction (RVSM). Gaz has only ever passed a very very small handfull of people from around 40 exams he's taken (I'm am lucky to be one of the privelidged few) so make your phraseology spot on, and you'll be fine.

I myself passed my FC exam yesterday with 90/100.

Score of 88, and some compliments from Gaz that i'm sure he only uttered once in an exam !!
