KATL Fly-In Suggestions
« on: October 04, 2006, 12:52:54 pm »
hi guys - would like all the members of KATL ( or other hub members ) to possibly suggest some ideas for a fly-in that we could perhaps put towards the hub-manager and the online flying event co-ordinators to organise for the end of this month or even the beginning of November! So what do you suggest......

Hi,

As you said, the Fly-In's are organized by the Hub Manager.
So, send him an email explaining your ideas ;) ... For now, he is the only one that manages this.

Regards,

Hi Brian, are we looking towards a maybe 1 - 2 hour flight like the other hubs? If so, maybe New York is an option, or maybe Cuba.

Flight 5874 to New York is Class 5 (EuroHarmony) and 659NM.
Flight H1035 to Havana is Class 4 (EuroHolidays) and 647NM. There is also EuroCargo Flight C572 to Havana which is Class 4 also.

Some ideas, to consider. I think, Brian, we're relying on support of people from other hubs since only three (if Maarten comes) of us will be there.

i think we should look towards a 1-2 hour flight - KATL is a hub like all the others so why be different? i'm sure all the guys from the other hubs will support us in the fly-in Ben and i like your idea about Cuba - i think that would be a good flight to make! we will see if anyone else from the other hubs has any suggestions - then i'll forward on our ideas to Kendy ;)

It's a three and a half hour flight, so it might not be a good idea... Brian?

yeah i think 3 hours is stretching it a little bit but could be an idea for the future once we get KATL properly established - I think we should start off small and work our way up! so 1-2 hours will be fine..... but thanks for yourt input Javier your support is well and truly appreciated :>  and i hope your able to take part in our fly-in as we need the support of everyone to make it a success!

Can everyone handle a visual approach witha large plane at  this interesting airport?? ;)
Also like Ben said, the flight time shouldn't be over 2 hours .
There are also some nice destination, where we can find a wonderful beach after landing and to drink some Carribean cocktails together :]

There are two flights that go to the Bahamas (Freeport and Nassau), both EuroHolidays Class 4. Around the 500NM mark... anyone interested? It's in the Bermuda triangle too, for some extra fun ;)

Why do not you fly westbound, or northbound ? For example to Chicago, or Indianapolis, or such destination...or to Las Vegas, or Groom Lake :P.

BTW, I remember a flyin when Bruno disappeared over the LaManche channel, and we had to send a rescue chopper for him ;D At least he survived ;)

I vote for Las Vegas! Never landed there.

On routefinder it gives 1500nm ... about 2h30 mins flight.

First I would like to get KATL off the ground, with a strong pilot base, preferably over 10 active pilots, and I would also like to sort out my promotional work...
